Is that how long the permit is valid? Only thing I can think of.
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
The 45 day thing is the amount of time Iowa farmers will give a trucker as a head start if they are caught messing with their daughters.
IluvCATS, Cottonmouth85, gokiddogo and 7 others Thank this. -
Nope, theirs are 180 and renewable at 180 again. I was thinking the same. I googled "Iowa 45 day rule" and pretty much got this.... (sorry, OP! Hopefully someone from Iowa will chime in!)

Part 385 (FR Vol. 77, No. 205, Pages 64759-64762, 10-23-12)
This final rule amends the FMCSR to remove the provision indicating that the FMCSA will consider a 10-day extension of the 45-day period after which passenger and hazardous materials carriers must cease operation after receiving a proposed unsatisfactory safety rating. The FMCSA previously discontinued this practice as a matter of policy and amends the regulation to be consistent with the policy and the statutory language concerning this matter. Although FMCSA will continue to review requests for upgrades of a proposed unsatisfactory safety rating for such carriers, FMCSA no longer grants extensions to the 45-day period. Effective Date: November 23, 2012.
Ok.... here ya go. 45 day rule appears to be that Passenger and Hazmat operators must CEASE operations within 45 / or up to, 45 days, for any UNSATISFACTORY rating. They denied the extension in 2012.

Wow.... sure don't know, then. That's ALL I can find, but I DO remember awhile back, an FMCSA addendum or something, that gives you 45 days to transfer your CDL from one state to another. Perhaps that's what we're looking for, and it's not just an IA rule?? I just can't see you being banned from driving for 48 days. One of the Megas, (either Prime or Swift??? not sure...) makes you get a license in THEIR state... and transfer after completion of school... I've never read about having to 'wait' 45 days; I would almost believe that that's the MAX number of days to transfer, where a Class-C .... is supposed to be 30 days from moving. Piques my interest as well... hm.
@Chinatown .... any insight? @not4hire ? <<<< these 2 are pretty much up with the regs; sorry I can't help more; if either chimes in... you may find an answer.
Keep us posted; best of luck! -
