Maybe next time you see me in the yard, you'll come introduce yourself? I'm not as mean as I look.
-
Will do. I meant to last time but it started to rain, and you know how nasty Gary gets in the rain. Then I ended up falling asleep. They give you a new truck yet?
-
Ok since that is me in the video I thought I would weigh in on this post. Its real easy to talk down to someone who is not here to defend themselves isnt it?
Me and the guy who made this video talked and cut up for hours, I had a great time and he will tell you that I dont have that "its my way or no way" attitude. I am an easy going guy and do anything I can to help someone out. I was still up beat and wasnt mad, did they put me outta the truck right then and there without "helping" me get home? #### straight they did, although I wasnt down and out unlike most truckers, I dont live advance to advance. I was not in a position that I was "stranded", was it aggravating #### sure was!
First off the I cant sing comment, I never said I was a singer...LOL I am a truck driver! Its a hobby I am alot better guitarist than a singer, my band has a singer I just find that lyrics get in the way. Although I have heard alot worse singing in my day. Till I see or hear you sing or play some guitar I dont think your comment means #####.
The next comment about being a smart!ss hick? You can tell all that from just looking at a video of someone? I'll tell you what I am 33 yrs old and have been a trucker for almost 6yrs and have been in 46 diffrent states. And I have met "hicks" in everyone one of them, I actullay think its funny to have that stereotype. If you'd like I would be glad compare an IQ test with you?
The next thing I would like to say is this, I left US Xpress for 1 reason, to be home on weekends so that I could play my crappy guitar and sing my crappy songs..LOL in the band I am in more. Did Roehl get me home on weekends, yeah "most" of the time they did. Thats why I worked for them as long as I did. Is Roehl a good company to work for? Well I would say they are about the same as the others, the main thing they have going for them is the "hometime" thing. If it wasnt for that they would be your average "student" training mill.
Ok now onto the the reason for the post to begin with, first off I was not "fired" I turned in my 2 week notice. Which is what the DRG says they would like to have in the event you decide to leave thier company. It also says that after you submit your notice they can decide at any point after that to terminate your employment, which is exactly what they did!
There were 2 reasons I decided to leave, I could not meet there idle standards, and was under threat of being terminated for that reason. I refuse to have that on my record! The second was no freight, now all you "Roehlites" can say what you want but thier freight has went to #####. Sitting 4 to 12 hrs in between loads is rediculious, and that is one of the very reasons I could not meet their idle standards. The most you "could" idle a day was around 10hrs for your break, but if you are sitting long hours between loads you either idle or burn up. I refuse to "roast" in a truck for the crappy pay we get anyways.
Here is something for you to think about, "most" if not all of Roehls trucks are equipped with bunk heaters. Look at your idle standards in your DRG, weird that they give you more "allowence" for idle in the winter months than the summer? The bunk heater will keep the truck warm in the winter so there really is no reason to idle now is there? There is no way to cool a truck in the summer without and APU or idle the truck, so you would figure the idle time allowence for the summer months would be higher!
I am back at US Xpress and its funny to me how Roehls freight is so slow yet I seem to be getting plenty of miles here. And at a higher cpm rate to boot! I took a pay cut when I went to Roehl and was willing to do that to be home on weekends. So thats not a big deal, US Xpress does have an idle policy it is that if you are at a terminal for more than 2 hours they ask you to not idle. Thats easy to avoid...LOL dont go to a terminal!
Does US Xpress have things I dont like, why sure they do there is no trucking company that dont have issues. I know that I make more money here, dont have to sit near as much, and dont get threated with being fired because I refuse to "roast" in a truck.
Keep on trucking!!! Pe@ce!#! -
Well, glad you got to get your side on here. If you'll notice, the guy that made the rude comments is no longer with us; can't imagine why. Anyway, glad things are working out well for you.

Hey!! atekjunkie!
Great to see you chime in on things! Nice post! I guess that makes U an 'Articulate Hick' !
LOL
Yeah well umm, Im ah, not the huh, um actually not the guy that u met at Atlanta. Just posting it here for that guy,... who,... is my close friend! (cough, cough). -
Roehl ups the alotted idle time in the summer. It is as high as 35% for a truck with no APU. I live in Georgia and run the Southeast quite abit. It is hard at times to meet the idle policy but all Roehl expects is for you to achieve it 9 out of 12 months a year. Of course they will talk to you if you fell to meet it in any given month. I did not meet it twice last year and both times my DSR and I discussed it. Now I didn't act like a idiot and start complaining I just told my Dsr I would try harder. Never written up and still qualified for the yearly bonus.
Dr. Venture and schlepper004 Thank this. -
I missed mine twice before getting an APU. I was only asked the first time and explained I'd been down South a lot and couldn't sleep in the heat and as a result it would be unsafe for me to drive. No more questions.

Venture, you waiting on a load? I launch tommorrow and head to Florida from Ellenwood. You just seem to have alot of time today
