I will be removing the cobra. The owner gave me permission to do whatever necessary, on the clock of course. Even offered to pay for any extra parts that may be needed. I will be hooking directly to the battery if at all possible.
I'm not positive how the current antenna setup is working. There are 2 mirror mount 3 foot fire sticks. No separate am/fm antenna. And the am reception is pretty poor, leading me to believe somebody replaced the multi band antennas with generic Firesticks. I'm still thinking the best thing is to replace the coax and go straight to the cb, bypassing the multiplexor. Then I would need to add a separate am/fm whip. I really want to keep things as factory looking as possible.
I'll know a lot more tomorrow when I tear into it. Thanks for the help.

Good luck...but it's going to be more work than it's worth.

Thanks for the warning. I'll be doing this on company time with the owner's blessing. And he's very particular about things as well. Do you have actual experience with replacing the coax? If so, what about tying the new coax to the old and pulling it through? Then solder new connectors on after I have it routed? Thank you

You will have to literally tear the entire cab apart to run new coax. I started it and said screw it and used the bird perch mount. Whuch im glad because the guy i was working for ended up screwing me out of mo ey so i wasnt thete long.

I'm sorry to hear that. At least I don't have to worry about losing anything, I'll be on the clock. Another question, which bird perch did you use? I've just looked online a bit and can only find ones specifically for Volvo and Freightliner I believe. I haven't found any that are listed for Peterbilt. I do have the spot mirror on the right side. Do you know which one will fit my Peterbilt? Thanks
