Call them after 7am today, don't wait for a call back. I don't see as many trucks parked out front lately so not sure how badly they need drivers now, but nothing wrong with letting them know you are motivated and ready to work

Still can't get over those refrigerated furniture loads for cost plus. I get why the reefer is needed for the food also in the shipments, but have to wonder what happens when that wood furniture is unloaded from a cold reefer into 95 degree, 95% humidity South Florida climate.

Well after a couple of extra days off so that me and the truck could go see doctors im back at it. Currently sitting in vernon connecticut on a store remodel. Just got done talking to the site super who said that the refrigeration contractors have been showing up around 11am. Sounds like its gonna a long day.

Paint is the only thing ive hauled in a reefer that wasnt food while it was reefering. It was for freeze protection.

    chralb Thanks this.

I had a load of Salt Water Taffy out of Florida once that they sent a reefer to pick up. I asked why when I got there and they said they would rather have it hot and sticky than too cold. I guess the possibility of getting too cold and creating water condensation plays havoc with the wrapped candies.

And yes, they gave me a big ol' bag of samples on my way out the door too. Best Damnnn Salt Water Taffy I have had in a long long time. I might need to find their website and order some.

I have been driving since mid-August and solo since early October, and I have never once loaded or unloaded anything on my trailer.

I understand that there is one customer we have that requires it, but I have managed to avoid it so far. Only person I know on this thread that's had to do it is @RebelChick .

In other news, I am down in Naco, AZ.

There's the US/Mexico border. Couple of fences with a wide strip of dirt in between. There were a couple of road graders there, just making passes up and down the same few hundred feet. Dunno why. I guess that strip of dirt really needs grading.

The receiver here is one of those annoying places where the truck entrance isn't anywhere near where the GPS tells you to go. And the Google Satellite image didn't show anyplace that was obviously truck-friendly. So I got out of the truck, talked to some Border Patrol agents, and scouted the area to find out where I needed to be. (Turns out @Redtwin that it's behind the Gay 90s bar.)

Had to navigate a very tight one-lane road (think "toll booth") to make a right-turn, successfully made the turn without destroying property or my trailer, and parked here near the truck entrance of this receiver. Appointment time is 8:00am local, but it's 8:10am local and there isn't anybody there. Fences are locked up tight. Hopefully they get here soon, because I gotta be in Phoenix by 6:30pm local time, aka 9:30pm Richmond time.

Gonna be fun, too, because I started my driving day at 8:30am Richmond time. This is shaping up to be one of those days where I'll end up with 6+ hours left on my drive clock and no time left on my 14.

I swear they need to let us put in for detention for places that have their heads up their butts, even if they don't keep them there for the full 4 hours.

My appt time at this shipper was 1:00pm local. I got here at 12:10pm local. Was told they were getting my shipment ready.

At 2:00pm local, I went back to the shipping office to Respectfully Inquire(tm) as to why I hadn't been given a dock yet for my 1:00pm appt. I was told "Just five minutes and we'll call you."

At 3:00pm local, I went back to the shipping office to Respectfully Inquire(tm) as to why I hadn't been given a dock yet for my 1:00pm appt, when I'd been told at 2:00pm that it'd only be another 5 minutes.

Their response: "What, you don't have a dock yet?"

Um, you guys are running this clownshow. Shouldn't YOU know whether or not the freight in YOUR warehouse is on the truck it needs to be on to get to the receiver on time? Without me having to tell you?

For various reasons, today is gonna be a short driving day. The route I'm taking to the receiver is a bunch of US highways with little (if any) truck stop coverage. So I'm only going to drive a couple of hours today, stop in Flagstaff, and then run the entire rest of the way to the receiver tomorrow and park there overnight. Still, it woulda been nice to get outta Phoenix and on I-17 before rush hour traffic.
