of course I get all the way to Manhattan before reading the e-mail that the load requires an empty weight.
Anyone know of any scales in NYC?
Has anyone used Scholes Recycling?
(You have to call after midnight and make an appointment, other than that they're my 1st option. The other option is driving all the way back up to Milford CT *facepalm*)

The closest CAT scale that I know of is at Tullo Truckstop in South Kearney, NJ. located off Exit 15E on the NJ Turnpike. Follow Truck U.S. 1/9 north across the first bridge and you will see it on your left as you approach the exit for Central Ave. TAKE THAT EXIT and turn left to access truckstop. If you end up crossing the 2nd bridge you will end up in Jersey City and will have gone too far.
crb, FullMetalJacket and Longarm Thank this. -
Nope, I should have mentioned I'm already in NYC.
It would be an extra $100 to go over to NJ and back. -
Every time I have had a message like that, the shipper had a scale.
They weigh you going in and coming out.
Have you called them to ask?BigTennOTR Thanks this. -
Trade show at the Javitts.
No scale.
I called Scholes in Brooklyn, they don't do T/Ts so I've got to go up to Milford looks like.
As far as helping me out, this tread is done. If you want to keep it up for others, that's fine but I'm not going to need people telling me where the scales are in 2019.Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
You could go to pilot in mahwah then back in the top side,$32.75,but not sure if it's closer off the top of my head.
-
Mahwah would have been quicker and closer, but more expensive. 80 miles total to Mahwah Pilot and back to Javitts (assuming you take the tappanzee and I-87) and $32 in tolls vs 140 miles (to milford and back) and $8 in tolls all on I95

And since I know my way around ny, I don't even pay that.

You really should always know approximately what your empty weight is. For example, I know I am roughly 30,500 empty. If worried I would be overloaded I just say I'm 31,500. If they don't have a scale how are they going to know what you are telling them is right or not? Do they need written proof?
