    Spax.
I fail to see the humor. And neither did the individuals I used for the source of the information.
The first about the JJ Keller ELD and logging system is directly from the Keller representative who spent 2 days at our companies headquarters training drivers and safety personnel on implementing the ELD mandate. I attended those training events personally.
The second about the differences between EOBR's and ELD's is directly from a Peoplenet representative who spent a day training and upgrading a system used by a medium sized carrier in Southern Indiana that a close friend of mine is leased to. He attended that safety meeting, which in the words of his safety director was a major wake up call to their company and drivers about the changes to the EOBR system they have been using for 5 years.
Where do you get your information?

Nothing in what you just posted ^^^^^ was what I was referring to. I was referring to the algorithms, comparisons of eld logged miles to paper and the "big target on your back" if you have an older truck bs. And you failed to see the humor because there was none intended. I only quoted part of what you said....go back and look.

Many companies have been scanning paper logs into data retrieval systems for years. When I was a supervisor for Penske Logistics in 1997 we had a log scanning system that the drivers used every day, which notified us of any violations. And it was primitive compared to what is available now. JJ Keller just happens to be one of the largest suppliers of that equipment. And it was their representative who explained how their scanning system is going to be updated so the data output will match the ELD data output. It was a clear warning to my safety director to be ready for those comparisons, either internally or by the FMCSA.
Time will tell if the enforcement personnel in the field will take a special interest in those drivers who hand them a paper log. Human nature being what it is, I think it is a strong possibility.
