Its deffinately a challenge but there is no room for error when tarping and securing loads. One wrong move could be dangerous for other motorist when traveling down the hwy.

@Chewy352, got a young gun who wants to step his game up. Give him the regs and a motivational speech.
Mr @Boattlebot, securement should prevent any movement or shifting. Up down, side to side, back mad forth. If it shifted, it was improperly secured. Don't just throw securement over the load, place it strategically.
Luck in battle.Mudguppy, Chewy352, Boattlebot and 2 others Thank this. -
Yep and if you don't get the tarp nice and tight it'll look like a parachute while driving. Then those binders can be a hassle if you don't know which way they go there's a trick securing them to the trailer same with throwing the straps over the load.I still have my cheater bar from yrs ago.Boattlebot Thanks this.

I know a cording to ny is 50% foward backwards and side movement and 20% downwards to be legal.
I forget who mentioned that melton teaches 100% securment but that would be my preference anyway -
When you say teaches do you mean at the terminal for a few hours or what?
-
I'm quite sure Melton has an extensive securement class. They are good at what they do. Do it as they teach it and you will be fine. Also, I bet they will have a securement hotline you can call if you get a tricky load and need help on how to do it.
Boattlebot and pattyj Thank this. -
Phone interview lady said it was 4 days otj training. So I really have not a #### clue what to expect
-
Not to attack you or anything, man. But I would definitely ask if you could go with a trainer for a week or two so you can get a little hands on flatbed exp. I mean I don't think it could hurt.Boattlebot, austinmike, pattyj and 1 other person Thank this.
-
Well don't be shy about asking questions.Even though the recruiter hasn't said anything don't be surprised if you'll have to go out with a trainer.
-
I'd welcome that no issues.
