I don't know if you still have to go company out not before you can lease. I am going too find out today though. As for IRNHRSCWBY I don't know what he is going on about. They ran my butt off both as company and on the lease program. As for home time I think allot of that has tho do with where you live. I lived around 100 miles north of OKC right off of I35 so they would get me a load tho the yard and send me home with an empty and then I would usually go to national beef in Dodge City and drop and hook headed for LA leaving out. Now I'm about 30 miles south of Joplin Mo so we will see in a few weeks how they work that out. If everything goes as planned I will be in orientation next week.

I was going to go Freymiller but they want a refresher now so guess I will be going to Werner first for six months then look at other options. -
Now as for going company to lease, the answer is no, we had a guy in orientation that was hired into l/p. The catch is that they have to have a truck available when you apply or you have to wait to go to orientation till they get one and if they only have one then that's the one your getting because they will hold it for you till you complete orientation. If they have more than one that isn't spoken for then I imagine you will get to choose. The guy I came in with got a nice yellow 2016 KW T680. And whoever said the new trucks are automatics, I am sitting here right now in my 2017 beautiful burgundy Pete 579 with a 9 speed manual just like the 386 I had before. They might have a few automatics but everyone in our class was manual and one of the guys in orientation asked what transmissions they ran and the answer was eight speed manuals. ( The safety instructors are confused about that low gear I think, lol. J/k guys). It's just different views for different folks.
Anyhow as for me I am back and running company for now. The first week got kind of goofed up on both ends so I finished out last week with about 2600 miles I deliver Monday with a 1300 mile run to start this week, so this should make up for last week.Speed_Drums and Rocknroller4 Thank this. -
Hey y'all ..
I can try to answer a few questions I've seen here. My hire date here at Fm is March 2015. IMO this is absolutely a great company to work for. In 18+ years of driving its the best company I've ever worked for. Sure FM has some cons to go with their pro's but I assure you we have many more pro's. You will never work for a better person than David Freymiller. Man I could write a book about the things he's done to help me out. Its not just me but the stories I've heard from other drivers to help them out as Well. Good man, good person to work for.
L/P... Here's what I know. If they have the trucks available when you get to orientation then yes its possible to jump right into a LP. Brayleans info was correct. However they would like you to go company for 30 days before jumping into that commitment. They would like for you to make sure FM is a good fit for both you and them. To me this is just more proof they care about drivers and want everyone to succeed here. So its really a good idea to go company first. Make sure you like our lanes. Get to know the staff and if your gonna be an owner op make real sure you get to know the shop guys!
THE BIG QUESTION. Does Fm have the miles to keep me running. Here's my answer. You will tap out and ask for a break before they do! Yes Fm will work you ! Sometimes it may take little time to make it happen. However you have proven yourself and prove you can in fact run with the big boys and girls they. Run you until you say mercy and tap out. Many of people co.e to Fm saying the same thing. " run me hard I want. And can handle all the miles you can give me" well prove yourself show them you can get freight delivered on time, show them you can in fact run with the best and trust me you will be run til the wheels fall off your truck. A lot of the people who come here and say they can ru. With the best actuly can't handle consistently running 3000 miles per week. Here and there sure but every week is hard work and will wear most drivers out in a short time. So if you can handle it and prove it, you can bet you'll land on tbat unofficial big boy/girl board in no time. You will see most 4th s here are over 1000+ miles. Sure your gonna run those 500 mile runs but not often and very rarely repeatedly unless you show them that's about all you can really handle and be on time.
Currently I pull a tanker here at Fm. We are a small (5 drivers) fleet of dedicated drivers. This just shows Fm is always looking to expand and try new things. Theve purchased at least one company over the past year also.
Our equipment is the best out here. Pete's and KWs and a few freightliners. Hopefully the freightshakers were a1 time deal. All the trucks have all the bells and whistles and defiantly ordered with driver comfort in mind. No striped down basic trucks here. Trailers all all new or newer. Airslide tendons and kept in great shape. Have an issue on the road and need a repair? No problem go get it fixed. No games to play, no 20 phone calls for approval. If you can't get to a shop road service will be enroute. These break dow. Guys are on. Most of the fleet are 8 speed manual but we do have a few autos. For the most part the autos go to the drivers with auto only RESTRICTION on their CDL.. FM tries to accommodate everyone.
What else can I say? I love it here. Ive been offered other jobs more money but I ain't leaving.not by choice anyway...
Feel free to hmu if I can be of any help..

Training can lay up to six weeks I think but I'm pretty sure it's up to your trainer. I have heard of some refresher getting done in as little as a little over a week. You would have tho discuss out with a recruiter, they won't shoot you any bull.
Rocknroller4 Thanks this. -

I know lease purchase has been discussed a few times here but what about running under your own authority with your own truck? I talked to an older gentleman with a white 379 he had bought off of freymiller's dealer and he says he's doing well. My truck payment is cheap. Where most people pay 6-700 a week for the truck, $600 a week will cover every expense I have excluding fuel. Truck/house/insurance/etc.
I'm 22 with my own authority, just need to get down the road and keep the wheels moving until I turn 23 and can lease to someone better or until I can buy a trailer and run my brokers. My uncle worked company for them for a little bit and liked it. I live about 10 miles from their yard in OKC.
