The Lucas OS is a ruse. It is nothing more than a 150w base oil. No additives of any kind. I have seen multiple lab sample tests on this stuff and it has nothing in it of benefit. It just ramps up the oil viscosity. Problem is, it dilutes the beneficial additive package of the oil you are using. If you want a higher viscosity oil, then buy something like a 20w50. Sure a lot cheaper than buying a gallon of Lucas Oil Snot.

Most definitely the stars and winds aligned. Most likely you found yourself a good quality fuel too. Lucas is only good for boosting the oil pressure, other than that it is a typical snake oil. I did squeeze a snake one day and the oil came out, guess what...It smelled like lucas.

I use Rottela T6 5w40 and 0w40 synthetic only, never used Lucas, passed 1.8 million miles on my Volvo D13 without inframe.

After the last fill up, I picked up a 5k lb load from TN and went to WI. Till the end of the day, for couple of hundred miles, my computer was showing 9.2-9.4 driving 65-70. Next day, unfortunately, I woke up to nasty side wind from IN all the way to WI and back to IN, also lots of stop and go on 294 around Chicago. Computer dropped to 7.8mpg and this morning with manual calculation I came up with 7.7 average. Will continue monitoring to see what happens next in a good normal weather

That sounds like a reasonable interval on the D13. My pre-egr Detroit 60 called for a interval of 15K from Detroit, but I am doing changes roughly 50% longer, at around 22K. I primarily use a syn blend version though. 10w30 in winter, 15w40 in summer. Not to a mil yet on this factory remanned engine, but getting there and the engine only uses about 2 qt of oil between oil changes and has a stack of very strong used oil sample reports.
