I can't think of an insurance policy you could take out that would cover a vehicle you don't own and already has a policy taken out on it. Double indemnity or something like that which isn't allowed if it is even legal.

Realistically, can you imagine the company suing you for thousands to cover damage?. I cant. The most you could lose is your last paycheck as you would most likely be fired anyway if things got that bad.

I will not remain with that employer.

Ive had front end ripped off in truckstops before, (Pam Im looking at you...) leaving me with a interesting problem.

But that is what the company's insurance is for. I will be ###### if I get to pay for something like that.

DO NOT sign any paperwork agreeing to pay damages. DO NOT. There is a stack of laws in your favor as a employee (Make sure you are not a 1099 etc) It's too much to dive into at the moment.

Find someone else to run for.

And please, don't be vague with your specifics. It';s trucking. Not hauling nuclear weapons or something.

Hate to break the news to you, you don't know what you're talking about.

The company is cheap, go find another job. I would only charge someone for clear and obvious negligence, but please ... scrubbed tires?

Losses because of paper work mistakes or missing?

That's their problem, they can not charge you back as an employee for that.

The same is true about damages to the truck that insurance should be covering, they can do something about the deductible but outside of that, no way can they charge you.

I suggest YOU NAME the company when you get another job so to warn people.

Quite honestly if I were an owner and could get by with it I would back charge my drivers for some of the more stupid stuff they do. Early the other morning while on the way to the VA hospital here in Hampton my friend and I saw a driver running on and off I 64 doing what looked to me like trying to text. The driver hit what looked like a large rock while way off the road and slung it into the rear of the trailer and I saw that rock then bounce and hit a car. Yes I got video, trailer number and have emailed the video to his safety dept with a message that it is going up on my youtube channel soon. With video it is NOT the drivers word against mine. I got the cars tag number too. The Virginia Highway patrol has promised to try to make contact with car's owner. I for one am sick and tired of this horsecrap. I have said this now many times over the last few years. Pull a stupid around me and I can get it and your vehicle information on video I WILL REPORT YOU!

What does he mean your paper work isn't in order?Anyway if you're smart you'll quit right now. That company will find reasons to charge you for things you didn't do.You work hard for your money you don't need to you don't need to pay to have his crap fixed.

I stopped trying to directly stop the driver. Now if the driver needs help and it looks like stupid is about to happen I will do my best to stop it. However when I see what I saw the other day I go right into another mode.

Far as insurance his insurance covers all the drivers. When companies go thru the hiring process the drivers gets approved or declined by there insurance company. So there's no need to get extra insurance your company will still charge you.
