Dave, the FLD ran into 03. I saw ryder advertising 03 FLD's.

Ask Walmart and Swift, the kings of small sleepers. I'd like to know why Wally doesn't have a 70in condo. Also, why does Swift like the 61in sleeper in the Volvo. Yes its nice for the first couple weeks, but dont people get claustrophobic in there?

Here's the thing where confusion often comes in regarding FLD's.

The Classic and Classic XL were also called FLD's, even though they're noticeably different.

This is the FLD that the Columbia replaced.

This is the FLD that the Coronado was supposed to replace. However they were still making this model as recent as the 2008 model year.

    because they are ####### cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will you ever get that????????? Walmart, SNI, us crapsress, jb hunt dont give a #### about you as the driver or your comfort! Its all money to them thats all it is and thats why they dont order the big sleepers. You need to stop being concerned about the big so called "trucking companies" and what they do and finally open your eyes to what is actually GOOD!

    pathfinder and Brickman Thank this.

    king,

the big outfits like sni, walmart, swift, werner, us xpress ect, ect...order the smaller sleeper for the wieght savings. this is important to them becuase they have all brow-beat the shipping rates so low that it just is not profittable for them to have the extra wieght...it equates to more crap you can shove in the box to get that extra .02/mile

as far as the not condo's comment...it has been proven time and again that a midroof will sell for more, faster than a condo...reason being...a midroof can go hual a flat, tank, dump without extra fuel costs to new owner, just the removeal of a fairing
a condo is only good for areodynamics with a full box or reefer....put a flat behind a condo and you are pushing alot more air than you need to

remember there is a reason the big outfits buy volvo and frieghtliner...and its not resale value

    The Challenger Thanks this.

    Hey king,

My guess that freightshaker might try to make what is going to replace the cornado more areodynamic, maybe something like the IH Lonestar:biggrin_255:

    Foreverfree,

If they do expect one very ugly truck. I think everyone will agree with that.

I am tired of Freightliners. I wish Schneider would get some Prostars, since I can't afford one myself now.

Question. Are there any differences between say, the condo versions of the Century and Columbia other than the body work? They appear identical from the driver's seat and under the hood. Am I missing something? Seems like a waste to offer customers a choice between 2 ugly bodystyles.

There's a pretty noticeable difference in the gauges, at least the speedo and tach panel that's in front of the steering wheel. Otherwise, pretty much the same truck. I never understood FL's reasons for making two trucks that are so similar. However, the Classic and the FLD are the exact same truck from the windshield back. So I guess it's just sort of FL's m.o.

Rumor is schneider is supposed to get some cascadias. However, they need a replacement for their bulk tractors and the prostar is just right in terms of being a midroof and power.
