The miles were about 50 greater going that way according to my GPS, and I might have had a slow down due to rush hour traffic.
I'm happy with the route I have chosen, and it isn't a problem to get fuel where I need to.

We run that Oregon to Chicago a lot and depending on the weather decides which way I go and usually the northern route is better weather wise. A lot of people don't realize that it's that the mile are so close. Not saying you don't
-
Well, like I said before there was another consideration for me.
I smoke a pipe and like a certain tobacco. The northern route would have made getting it impossible.
It also looked like the northern route was a bit longer getting down to Joliet, so...
Many years ago I would have been called out for route changes or my idle time. That is not the case now.
All it takes is doing things your own way, all the time. And I have done so from the beginning.
As long as I get there on time the other things are second class at best.
And new Swift drivers, if any are on here, need to know that.
We have much more freedom than the system suggests. -
Morris, IL at the TA.
A nice quick live unload today, with a plan to MN from and to Costco.
That should be my home time load, although the home time load wasn't mentioned. But I'll only have about 3 hours left on my 14 after I deliver, so unless they have a preloaded load very close that I can t-call at IGH I'm planning on going home. After dropping the empty at IGH and getting my NY sticker, that is.
It's a drop at the other end, but comments say that I am not allowed to bobtail out. I MUST take an empty, and call a number if there isn't one.
Too bad. It is only about 10 miles from home, if that. -
It's a drop and swap at a Costco store ... can't leave the empty on the door.
-
I know.
I got there and there was a truck blocking the driveway, so I pulled in behind an empty Swift trailer and walked up.
The guy tells me I'll have to sit tight for a while because he needed to unload that trailer, and he was working on unloading others in the docks. His day is crazy.
After 45 minutes I walked back up and was told I could put my trailer in door 3 and take the empty in door 2.
That was a nice surprise because I usually have to swap the trailers into the same door.
As no other pplan had come to me I called my DM and had him set my home time PTA.
So, I'm home in Burnsville now until Sunday. -
Kinda figured you knew ... but it is possible you've never pulled a Costco before ... Like I've never been to Worland - I think that's the place - and doubt I ever will.
-
You are missing out on the easiest load in the entire Swift world by not going to Worland. Otoh, you need to go to and from Worland to pick up that 6k, long mile load through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.
Unfortunately you need to be empty in the pit of no, none, not any freight to get that load.
Frank -
And why I doubt I will ever do one ... unless Command takes me to on my standing offer of $5 per mile to go to South Dakota.
-
Wyoming.
I stopped hauling Command loads because I was consistently getting quoted rates that were paying less than Swift would have paid. I even called Michael Zamost about it after you said that wasn't your experience with them. Nothing changed even though I hauled the second most Swift loads for them in 2014. Done.
