I thought that Schneider trucks all had the dreaded driver facing cameras in them, no?

No. Some (most if not all new ones) have an outward facing camera that doesn't have any audio recording capability and it's actually glued to the middle top of the passenger windshield.

That's ridiculous. I didn't know they did that.

It's true. I'll go weeks without actually talking to anyone and Its wonderful. If I need something, I have my DBL's cell but I rarely call her and she never bothers me unless it's to give me options on loads or ask when I want to go home. If you prove that you don't need your hand held, they won't try to.

Thanks for the correction on the information on the dreaded driver facing cameras in the trucks. Outward facing without audio recording is fine with me. Inwards, even without audio, is not. I guess that I can put them back on my short list then.

Schneider is opening up a brand new facility up here in Shrewsbury, MA. Open house tours of the new facility on Friday and Saturday with free food for lunch too! I am not sure if I should be revealing this next bit of information but a couple of instructors at my CDL school were talking about Schneider buying Werner Enterprises, but again, I am not sure if they were blowing smoke or what. That was just what they were saying. If course, there is nothing out there on Google to suggest anything like that, but I guess if there is, we will hear about that soon enough.

New facility? An operating center or HQ for a dedicated account? I haven't heard of this but that'd sure be nice since there is like 2 options for free parking in the entire state. Oh and stick around any truckstop for 20 minutes and you'll hear that everyone is buying everyone else.

From the Schneider website on April 27:

Schneider driver and diesel technician recruiters will be available to answer questions, with the potential for on-site interviews. Explore all Northeast driving jobs and diesel technician jobs.

Local truck driving schools will also attend May 6 to talk with potential drivers looking to get CDL training.

    New Facility Details
167 parking spaces, including tractor, trailer and auto parking
    7 maintenance bays
Lounge and break room with TV
Vending machines, ice machine and microwave
    Office and meeting space

When I spoke to the recruiter, he said that because I live on the Cape, I would have to drop off the truck at that terminal/facility when I get hometime. That kind of sucks since I would not be able to take the truck home, but I would take the travel to the yard to pickup my truck versus any cameras pointing in my face.

I saw that post on facebook about the new facility. Look's pretty good. I dunno about that rumor of buying Werner though. I kinda hope not. Funny though because I made a joke about that after the Knight-Swift thing. Schwerner.

It's in the same spot where the shrewsbury drop lot is. They've been building it for a bit. I thought it was mainly for intermodal out of there. Easy parking around Boston is always good in my book though. At the same time it's always been there so... eh

    AM14 Thanks this.
