    @ datxsaw...

Thanks for that link again. That was a very good read. I had to read it in a few sittings today, but it was good nonetheless. God Bless Mr. Paul and Mr. Goode.

Mexican trucks running in this country, in the limited capacity that they are operating, will have no effect on the freight rate, drivers wages or benefits.

There is nothing in NAFTA suggesting or allowing Mexican's to come to the US to take American trucking jobs. Actually, with an H1B work Visa which an employer could assist in obtaining, they could come here and work in the industry legally. This has been the rules long before the Cross Border Program came into being.

Contrary to popular opinion, freight rates in Mexico are not cheap. The published rates we work under or $500 dollars cross border from Laredo to Monterrey metro, a distance of 145 miles, tolls extra if the freight is expedited. Rates C/B from Laredo to Metro Mexico City are $1350 to $1500 dolllars US for a distance of 720 miles.

Cross border services cost between $50- $150 dollars depending on the service rendered.

In a country where the average weekly wage of a factory worker is #125.00 plus benefits mandated under law, $.20 per mile is a decent wage. 3000 miles x .20 is $600 dollars a week for a 5 or 6 day work week. Then include a mandated per diem payment which is generally $20 dollars a day and that adds another $120 to the wage. Deduct $180.00 for IMSS (Social Security 25%) leaves them with $540.00 or at todays exchange rate $5950.00 pesos for a weeks work.

As you can see, it's all very thoroughly documented. Because of the massive exposure of this scheme - especially considering that it's election-time - its perpetrators are finding it necessary to go much more incrementally, slowly, and quietly. Let's beware that both major presidential candidates are very much in favor of it - they both want amnesty for all, for example - while they steadfastly deny its exinstance. "Eternal vigilance is the cost of liberty"...!

Isn't that the truth. Been listening to too much Rollye James and reading the fantasies of Jerome Corsi.

Fact of the matter is, when you try and blame NAFTA for our woes, you're barking up the wrong tree.

FACT: In the 14 years after NAFTA was implemented, the US lost 1.4 millions jobs. Now don't get excited and say "See, I told you so"! because,

FACT: in the 14 years preceding the signing of NAFTA, the US also lost 1.4 jobs.

    NAFTA is not the culprit.

    What is?

For one thing, technology. Automation of plants has reduced the need for workers.

We still have the same manufacturing output as we always have.

Many companies moving south, and not to Mexico. But to the Carolinas, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas where there are right to work laws, a ready labor force, industry friendly tax offsets.

Think that is not the truth? Why then did Mercedes Benz choose Vance Alabama for their US assembly plant instead of one of the idle plants in Ohio and Michigan? The same for Toyota in Indiana, Hyundai in Alabama, there is a new Kia plant going in in Georgia and the Toyota Tundra plant in San Antonio.

And anyone that thinks we can seal our borders, seal our ports and become and isolated economy is barking at the moon.

This nation and the world has been on the path to a global economy since the days that old world explorers sailed the Atlantic and Pacific and the Camel trains traveled the silk route in Asia.

I HAVE LOTS OF RESPECT FOR MEXICANS. IN FACT LEARNTSOme things HERE. The problemis the bad group. We need to isolate & eliminate them. The FBI has a file on every American that has ever been arreasted. It is not forgiven or dismissed. It is permanent. Why should you get special exemptions?

Not certain I understand your response.

The majority are good people and hard working like the rest of us. But like in the trucking industry, the spotlight seems to shine on the 1% that is bad and paint everyone with the same brush.

And by the way, if there is any doubt (reading your last sentence) I am a white American US citizen, not Mexican, just so that is understood

IT MAY SURPRISE YOU BUT ILLEGAL MEANS YOUHAVE BROKEN A LAW. GO TO YOUR DICTIONARY. MY RANT IS TOO MANY CRIMINALS ARE BEING EXCUSED PAST BEHAVIOUR. I am held accountable for every stupid action since 1947. WHY ARE THEY EXEMPT?

Wasn't bringing race into it Slide. Your last sentence, "Why should YOU get special exemptions" was what I was responding to.

Like you, I've been held accountable for everything I've done since 1954.

But see, you like so many others, have let the subject of illegal immigration intrude upon the debate of Mexican trucks and one has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

I don't dwell on illegal immigrants like some. The majority come here to work and eventually leave. They don't effect my life in the least. And their minor civil misdemeanor of crossing the border illegally pales in comparison to the crimes I read about in the newspaper everyday. Mother's killing their children. Massacres in colleges and schools. The crimes on Wall Street and in Washington that have put this country in the mess it's in.

Sorry if you took what I said in the wrong vein

Apology accepted. I get irate due to my non secure future due to the economic mess this country & now the world finds itself in. I once had a promising future in high tech. Degree etc. The gov.t decided these jobs be given to new immigrants who don't go home. They are given special work visas. I am trying to enter this new profession & am having difficulty getting my first job. Torrow i go back to cdl school to do a refresher course. Jobs are scarce & i do not want more competition. Selfish? Yeah!they are a potential threat. If we enter another great depression things will become very ugly. This is still my home. I don't have another country to go to, this is my last stand.

First they ship American jobs overseas and now they are shipping people from overseas and across the border to America for jobs.Absolutely amazing. Disloyal US government. So much for Homeland security and safety on our roads. Here in Oregon they shot down a measure to allow illegals to obtain a drivers license. Thank god!!
