Dang dude, you're almost at my personal record of 26 miles with a 7' Firestik and a 955. I'd call that downright impressive, not just making progress.

That truck at Crete would talk. I've got the noise issues with this new truck worked out but I still have trouble getting out. Next step is to go ground strap crazy.

Yeah think the cb bug's starting to bite.Building up a collection of antenna's in the truck.Like the firestik brand, but still giving some thought to upgrading.

So Im driving a 2013 Cascadia from our Florida terminal up to our Iowa terminal, its the model with the antennas mounted to both sides of the cab, and I have read and heard nothing but bad things about this cb setup so Im hoping for the best. I pick up my load in Leesburg Fl and despite the heavy skip coming in I still hear truck stop chatter from the TA in Wildwood, about 8 miles away, so I try and make contact and I get a response from St. Louis Mo, then despite the skip I finally talk to driver at the TA, now Im thinking one skip contact and 8 mile contact antennas are not that bad. After driving the last 2 days ( in Illinois now) I must say the transmit and receive really isnt that bad, 5 to 7 mile average with a Uniden PC 78LTD stock, if I were in a truck like this permanently would I ugrade to a better antenna setup? The answer is yes, but for someone driving this truck and maybe doesnt want to mess with it , it works ok, and just to mention the swr ( radio meter) is 1.4 on channel 20.
