Thanks man, I have a job offer, was just worried about all the horror stories I've read.

Do flatbed or the northeast regional van, don't go over the road. Equipment is nothing special that's for sure. As long as you don't complain to much your DM will leave you alone. My trainer is great and he gets to swing by his house a couple times a week and for his resets.Rocknroller4 and dinosaurjr Thank this.

I spoke to a recruiter just now. They were nice about it. Seem ok to start off with and the best thing about Western is little micromanaging but they are apparently bad at proper pay and communication while OTR.

The only real problem I've had with them is, apart from nickel and dime stuff, is when a flatbed gets a load to AZ or NM or San Diego sometimes it's hard to get out of there, especially in the cold season. They once hooked me up to dry van trailers for a month with a flatbed tractor because I was in AZ with no flatbed loads available. That was lovely. Thousand mile drop and hooks. Now that I've been a flatbed trainer, the money and the runs are more than people would believe.
I've said it before: the difference is in who the dm is if you are solo. Never get angry on the qualcomm. Planners and csr read that stuff, too. If there is some issue, enough phone calls will get it resolved. In time, with the gained experience, I would go somewhere that uh how can I say it somewhere that has more of what one wants.417bigK, Rocknroller4 and Lonesome Thank this. -

Check the Humboldt County Craigs list. Quite a bit of work available.

Well this is a first. Western said I have to do a refresher and stay with them for 12 months otherwise I pay back 1250. They want me to buy a plane ticket to Nashville for the refresher and then back to Fontana for orientation. lol! like I have the money to do that. They said they would reimburse me but from what I've read about this company I'd be surprised to see my flight ticket get paid back.
Werner said they will take me as is and stick me with a trainer for two months. Never expected Western Express to be more cautious about driving experience than Werner. -
When you go flatbed at Western Express, do you have to pay for equipment thru payroll deductions? And if yes, how much are the deductions, and for how long? Thank you.

I don't believe so but I was inquiring about van.
dinosaurjr Thanks this.
