I have no real experience with a Fontaine but I know a bunch of guys that run their MX 55 ton extendables and they love them and load the crap out of them.

I was just pointing out that the ad is very misleading for price - you will be very close to $300k by the time you spec the necessary parts to make that trailer workable as a multiaxle

Well like Ron said it's miss leading, for that price you have a really heavy tri axle.

I was more looking to run 3-4 axle closed around the northeast. But have something I could expand if I wanted to....and go big .

noluck, snowman_w900 and Oxbow Thank this.

Well that's two different animals. 3-4 axle a 55 ton is plenty, 70 ton sacrifices to much tare weight for no advantage.

noluck, snowman_w900 and Oxbow Thank this.

I bet that trailer weighs over 30k as a 3 axle so - do you want to be a 60k 7 axle empty?

Then if you order a flat deck, the trailer deck height will be an issue.

It takes 90k just to get the arch out of my trailer and then my deck height is 26" (18" beam height).

Also, you really want a 10' wide big trailer to be able to haul some of the big pieces (if you are running a beam- right JD?)

These big trailer are really only good at being big trailers. The 55 ton trailer guys will eat you up rate wise - all their permits will be cheaper as they are permit for 8-10k less than you -

That dealer told me they wouldn't recommend a 55 ton if I want to go big later on....

Ya, I should have known that you can't have your cake and eat it to....

I agree with them a 55 ton won't cut it if you want bigger and a 65/70 is worthless for most lighter work. I have a 60 ton and it's completely worthless. So not only can't you have your cake and eat it too, sometimes you can't even have the cake.

If I have any say in it my next trailer is going to be an Aspen, it'll be the contractor series like @Oxbow has but it'll be and Aspen.
