The minivan that followed the thieves is part of the theft procedure. Another lookout? Second set of eyes on the driver?

Your typical 27 foot long lumber tarp with 8 foot drops weighs about 120 to 140 pounds. (2x27 foot tarps will do a 53' trailer front to back with 1 foot overlap).
I bought two new "lightweights" which are thinner tarps to replace the stolen ones. They weigh like 100 pounds (guessing).
Both new ones are 27 footers, but the old ones were a new 27 foot with 6 foot drops and a 3 year old 20 foot with 8 foot drops. Both were heavier than my new tarps, especially that 27 foot one.

I fold them up real short and fat because it makes them easier to pick up (especially over your head) where as the way most people fold their tarps causes it to bend and flop in the middle when you pick it up. Also easier to pick up because its narrower.

    Probably competition.
That minivan had been riding around all day even after the theft, but it stayed away until after the police were gone. I just assumed they were selling drugs.
Sometimes you see these guys in a pickup trying to sell stolen electronics. You can tell something is up by the obvious signs of drug use.

I purposely have my cameras mounted where everyone can see them to stop stuff like this from happening. I guess these two dudes were in serious need of more crack, so much so that they'd steal literally 4 feet away from a $70 camera with 1080p resolution and) night vision ( the dvr comes with 4 of them, the one on the pside is out of commission due to rock damage).

They will fit inside the enclosure/rack if you leave some space for them. We carry 20 chains and binders but it's very rare to need more than 12 so it's safe to leave some of them buried to save space for tarps.

That's a 27' 8' drop tarp. Could probably stack two on top of each other if I cut that corner of the shelf out. There is allot of empty space in there unutilised. They need to spec the enclosures better.

That entire area in the photo is full of chains and binders on my truck.
Since the driver buys the equipment each driver could carry whatever. There have been a few times where I needed more than 12, mostly bobcats etc because they have so many on there that they hang off the front and back of the trailer.

You carry tail chains or all long ones? Usually need more binders than chains and you can short chain a bunch

    long
Also my rack is not as wide, but a little deeper and it has chains hanging on the sides as well as the back.

Maybe look into some short tail chains? I like a grab hook on one end and a slip on the other. 8'-12' work nicely.
Saves having to wrap up excess chain too. Speeds it up a lot
