i was hoping to make the summer on my old drives. treadwise i could have, but they were getting old,and a couple weeks ago one developed a circumferential crack around the bead. i replaced it with the good yoko steer i kept when i put new steers on.
then yesterday i heard a slight POP,and a pfft-pfft-pfft-pfft that diminished. i sounded like a tire pop,but no violence and stuff exploding. pulled over,it was a sidewall pop. the tire was flat but on the bead and fully intact so i limped it to the Loves Menomonie Wi about 40 miles down the road. all they had were Aeolous and other chinese crap. the bad tire was still on the bead and fully intact,so i declined and took my chances and limped to white bear lake, did my drop and went to Bauer Bilt in blaine mn. was all set to pull trigger on a set of Uniroyal RD30's,as i pulled into the bay i changed myt mind to the BFG DR444's. (both are michelin owned and USA made, the BFG's are deeper tread, probably a little more science in the tread design.
i hate worrying about tires, and i will not do recaps or chinese tires on the truck. they did a full thrust alignment for free. i have all new virgin tires all around on my truck and trailer now.DDlighttruck and Oxbow Thank this. -
Those are good tires..
Ive ran them before, only issue i found was they were a bit noisy. Wore great thou.Oxbow Thanks this. -
good thing it's a stretched frame...keep that noisy behind me! lol!
4203.00 installed on these. all they had was Equal, not the beads so i have equal now-grrr....Oxbow Thanks this. -
Hahaha, yeah it must have been me. I am just replying now cuz I didn't have any wifi all week long, so my emails never updated.
I shot down 29th street from Warrenton, Va. and unloaded in Greensboro, then up to Cana, Va. to Strickland's Truck Salvage and picked up my power steering box and spring hanger for my power steering conversion project that I SURE AM looking forward to...lol. Then I reloaded up in Galax, Va. and ran that up to NY state and delivered that yesterday morning, reloaded 80 miles up the road and I am staged to start next week off loaded now.
The old girl does a good job overall, but I do miss that Signature 600 Cummins power, now that I'm back in the old days of a 3406/375 horse...those hills are showing up again, lol. I would blast up 81 through southern Virginia with that 2000 KW like nobody's business, whereas now I'm having to work for a living a bit harder. But she still gets there the same way, just a little slower. -
That was me in the flattop Pete giving you eye on randleman rd. I thought that truck looked familiar, then when I got on the big road it dawned on me where I saw it before.
W900AOwner Thanks this. -
Well there's the next step in the project. Drop a 600 Cummins into the 900.W900AOwner and DDlighttruck Thank this.
-
Ain't that sumthing...? I just unloaded off Randleman Rd. at that lumber distributor.
-
Haha, I think I'll pass on that one. If anything, I'll drop a B into it. Not as much strength as a 600 Signature, but good enough for me. I've had a couple that were pretty strong over the years. -
I don't know about that. I have a sig 565 now. The truck before was a 425 B. I think the B was every bit as strong. Of course it dyno'd out at 550.
W900AOwner, DDlighttruck and Oxbow Thank this.
