I am going to Sage Truck driving school in Caldwell ID, they have job placement for life. I have been reading through this forum and I have seen a lot of good and bad things about different companies. I know everyone has there favorite and least favorite companies to work for but, how will I know what company is for me? I have a wife and 2 kids and to many bills to count Is there a company that pays well and yet gives you time off? TM

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

look around washington, haul them apples this time of year.

bring em south + haul those chickens back. think reefer

First.... chickens will not pay your fuel to get back to Washington.....
As far as a company goes you need to weigh the pros and cons. A lot of the flat bed companies will get you home on the weekend and some van will. Look to see if the company has a regional run around where you live. Most important try to find a company you will be able to stay with for a year or more. You do not need to job hop right out of driving school, it can ruin your record. Hope this helps. -
I started out at ROEHL transport then went to um... (shhh!)
JB Hunt not proud of that but my goal was a home daily job, I am now at Old Dominion and will stay there, linehaul is the way to go, good pay great company, I only worked 3 days last week but brought home over $500
. conway is good I hear, fed ex and ups is good also. Linehaul=hook a set of trlrs, go to a meet point or terminal, drop, rehook a set and go back home, no waiting no bumping docks almost no BS
. that is where its at! oh and at jb I was on a dedicated run, logged about 60-68 hrs a week (5 day work week) made pennies, now I am logging about 48 (3-5 day work week) making more and actually have a schedule, home about the same time every day. Be sure to get your hazmat and double/triple endorsements this will open up doors once you get experience
.
