I was just trying to see how the pay works for teaming. .60 was just an example. So basically whatever the cpm x the total truck miles the drivers just split the pay check. I don't know why it sounded confusing at first but i tend to overcomplicate things lol

Team rate say .60 split
Single rate is What, .45?
Team 6000 x .3 = 1800
Solo 3000 x .45 = 1350
Now it comes down to is the company capable of running you 6000 a week? You lose time twice as fast remember. .60 is probably for high end teams doing say Conway or odfl. Dry van teams I would think pay a maybe .05 or .10 above what single driver is paid. The difference doesn't work out to as much as it looks like it does on paper.Longarm Thanks this. -

Truck never stops......they will always keep you moving....hardly ever sitting.....you will take loads from solo drivers that cant make it....see my point?

If the team gets .60 cpm split, that means you get .30 cpm for all dispatched miles. This .30 cpm goes to you when you're driving and also when the team driver is driving and you're sleeping. It the truck runs 6000 miles then you get paid .30 cpm for the whole 6000 miles even though you only drove 3000 miles. You get paid for your miles and also your team mates miles.
On a 6000 mile week, you make $1800.00 plus accessorial pays. Good team companies keep the truck running at least 6K miles a week on average.MachoCyclone and 91B20H8 Thank this. -

Another way to look at it is...
Team runs 6,000 at .60 split between the two, so each driver makes .60 on 3,000 miles.
But what if there is one driver in the team that usually runs more miles than the other?
It could be how the loads come up or a driver that takes more breaks, but one driver will always get paid less per mile than the other.
That is what I don't like about a split pay between team drivers.
Each driver should be paid for what they drive - not what the team drives. -
We get paid per mile the TRUCK turns (hub to hub). Not how much each driver actually drives.
So, while I am sleeping, and my c o-driver is driving, I get paid MY mileage rate (which is more than my c o-driver since I've been there longer). And, he gets paid his mileage rate while driving, or sleeping. -
But, I work for a private carrier, and I have a particular route....so, my miles is basically the same each and every week (sometimes a stop/backhaul might change here and there).
It's almost like being on salary. -
Its not .60 cpm to each driver. Its .30 cpm to each driver. But each driver gets that for every mile the truck was dispatched. If the truck was dispatched 6800 miles you'd get that, times .30 or $2040. I'd have to run 4533, by myself, at my current cpm to make that.
