Hey guys I have been approved for Bruce oakley they want me to go hopper bottoms since I'm out of Oklahoma. They pay is pretty low. I wanted to go end dump which I may push. They said Oklahoma is prime territory for hoppers and Home time. What is average length of haul for hoppers? Mileage a week? A lot of dead head? I'm not sure about my tractor's weight, its an 09 kw t2000 c-15. So I may get end dump because of weight.

Lots of loadss going to a customer in okc from little rock, lots of guys just run back and forth, especially since you live in the city
TakinItEasy Thanks this. -
Do they dead head back to little rock?
-
Hey I gave you a call.

A lot of times they do. Sometimes they grab a load from city to Dallas then go back to the rock. I have a friend they talked into switching from dump to hopper. He is running around 3k a week. Close to half empty miles.TakinItEasy Thanks this.

I will be signing on pending my truck purchase tomorrow. Hope all checks out. Thanks @jpracer1 for talking to me For a while.

When you say the pay is low, how low are we talking about?

Hopper is 25 cents a mile less than dump for loaded miles empty miles are the same pay for both

I hope that 09 CAT has been doctored. Those emissions CATs put a lot of good guys out of business.
But I digress. Living in OKC you could do decent with a hopper. Run roofing granules from NLR to OKC and either deadhead back for another or make a round to Dallas then NLR. You could be home pretty much every other night if they ran you right. I live in NWA and they pushed me hard towards hoppers but I had been doing hoppers before coming here so I stuck with tanks.
If I buy a new truck though I might entertain running a hopper if I coupd get them to agree on only running NLR - OKC - Dallas - NLR. Do two circles a week would be about 3k miles a week.
But I'll be moving back to CO sometime this summer or fall so, throw that idea out the window.TakinItEasy Thanks this.
