Hey Duckman, I hope you didn't get too sick on that greydog ride. When I went to Transam, the only seat on the bus was beside the restroom. What a nightmare.
When you get your truck, Dont forget the Transam logbooks, lumper receipts, and Trippak envelopes they require. When I got my first load, I assumed they were in the truck. Big mistake!

Two questions Swifties. What kind of miles are you guys getting right now? And do you guys use Transflo?

    Ironic don't you think?

Personal I'm sitting at around 11 to 11.5K mi a month. There is a variance to weekly miles depending on which store drops I get or if I take time off. And no we don't use Transflo.

Hi all, I'm just starting out and I haven't back a trailer yet (except a boat and I had to pull up first). I'm scheduled to go to Phoenix on the 12th of November. I hope it will work out. Thanks for all the posting, it was most helpful.

It seems the miles the past few weeks has really slowed down. Got a message on the QC that freight is really bad right now, no explanation other than the economy. Anyone else noticing the slowdown?

I was making enough for my needs, but not as much as a lot of people seem to expect. Freight's slow now, yeah, and newer drivers get whatever's left when the dispatcher's buddies have their runs home. Why I got out this week :p

    pigen Thanks this.

Now I'm getting bummed, Swift and Werner have been the only two that have come to our school to recruit. I was leaning towards Swift as a "starter" co to get the much needed experience. If I could go to a co that is worth sticking with and if that co took newly graduated students, I'm so there. I have to get to work quick (depleting funds) and want to go regional with some decent hometime. I'm willing to pay my dues and do OTR to become more marketable, with a regional/dedicated/local run as a final goal.
I'm really spending a lot of time here to see what my options are.

Thanks to all of you experienced truckers for taking the time to educate us noobs! :yes2557:

Do not get bummed try to take what you read on here with a grain of salt. You will hear good and bad on here about almost every company. You are correct about Swift being a starter company, most of the drivers at Swift have less then a year experience or they are just out of school and need additional training. There are happy drivers at all the companies on here including Swift, but there are unhappy drivers at all of them and you will read that on here.
What ever company you choose you will get out of it what you make it. Stay positive and give it 100% if this is the life you want. Do not be a job hopper, where ever you go stay at least year. It will look better to perspective employers in the future.:biggrin_25525:
