It takes 3 weeks at a school to get your cdl....its worth going too
-
Maybe it's just not meant to be, no way I can fit a 3 week CDL school in my schedule
-
Wow, there is a CDL class 4 miles from me and it's $4500 for 4 weeks all day M-Th. That aint happening.

As long as you can pass the wriiten test, pre trip test, and the drive test you are good. Nothing says you have to go to a school. Now if you were going to drive tractor trailer, them some companies require amoint of hours ( usually 160 hrs) at an approved school.

If I can pass the written/inspection part I should be able to pass the driving test. I've driven 1 ton trucks with 30-35 ft trailers more than I can remember the last 10 years. Much of it was Ag. Related. Seems my biggest hurdle is having the truck to take the driving test.

The guy that offered you a job; won't he let you use his truck?
BigTennOTR Thanks this. -
No. the trucks are tied up working.

Roehl Transport pays students going through their school $500.00 weekly, then at graduation you go to trainee pay, etc. Pretty good deal if you can pass the hair follicle test. I think they may hold back the first 3 weeks, then give it all to you on the third week. Can you hit up a credit union for a few hundred to get the family by until that first check?
R.E. West Transportation in Lebanon has free cdl training and no contract to sign. Two weeks classroom/yard driving, then hit the road with a trainer.Last edited: May 18, 2017
