Roehl was good for a new CDL holder. I went thru their school and EVO I & II. If you want to learn all about trucking BY THE NUMBERS, then Roehl is good. They are very strict about HOS (hours of service) and running legal.
Prime has an extensive training program. But like all companies, Prime has good trainers and "folks who have no business training." Roehl was that way too - I had one really good trainer and one really PSYCHO trainer!
I can't advise you on which way to go - it's 6 of one and a half-dozen of the other. But I can say this. I would do it the same way if I had to do it all over again. Roehl was a great place to start, and Prime is a great place to be right now.
Let me know if I can be of any further help.
Clarification on this

I dont know about how well freight is during those months, but I do wish I had a little more winter experience in a truck.
I think any winter driving under training conditions would be a big help. I am going into winter with some mid spring Utah snowfall experience, and I sure wish I had more.
Honestly with the way the economy is, I think it will be really tough to predict how much freight will change. Ive been moving, even while my Fleet Manager says freight is slow. It goes from being pre-planned loads to waiting an hour or so after unload when he says this. -
