I finally learned how to secure coils

    Unless you have one of Mac's,Reitnour's or anyone else who make the aluminum j-hooks then the rub rails are the only option.

    I don't see trailers with chain ties or d rings much anymore

    Right. All the flatbedders I see use the rub rails to wrap the straps or chains. Those chain ties or J hooks are on your steel hauling Covered wagons and Conestoga equipped trailers these days.

    I'm will to bet good money you can't produce a regulation, from the green book, that says anything to that affect.

    Why cant you run every coil like shot gun style?

    Because the receiver specifies based on their handling methods.

    I find that ignorant honestly...like when i worked at a plastic injection company...we had 40k molds you could spin with the crane.....would think they would be the same way

    Look I'm not defending the reasoning only pointing it out. That being said not everyone who takes coils is setup like your factory.

    Some places unload from the side with a big forklift. Some places use an overhead crane. Most of the coils I've hauled always specify at receivers request.

    Im not being rude towards you lol...just saying i find it ignorant....only way to pick up one is a crane right?? The crane head just needs to be able to spin..dont think its a huge expense...lol
