I was told by the city police where I live that no trucks means no trucks. I had a regional route and the plant I loaded out of was in an industrial park with only one entrance/exit for trucks. There was another route from where I came from that would save me 20 minutes and less than a mile of road marked no trucks. I was told if they caught me on it I would get a citation and if caught a second time they could impound the truck. I decided that 20 minutes wasn't worth taking that chance.

In California local deliveries and pickups are exempt from weight and length restrictions accept on bridges, the cops still try to write tickets to trucks off the truck routes but that is just because they figure the drivers won't fight it; if you call BS on them and show them one of 6 clearly stated sections of the vehicle code that allow you to be there they will scurry away and bother someone else.

Most California truck drivers are not citizens and don't speak English these days so they don't argue with our corrupt law enforcement much, or even know when to argue since they can't read the vehicle code.

When I drove for USA Truck, they had a guy go across a 3 ton bridge with a 45,000 lb hazmat load. He made it across, and got scared because of the road he was on, and attempted to back over the bridge. The bridge collapsed, and the trailer snapped into, and leaked hazmat into the stream with had a fish hatchery not too far down stream

Local delivery, construction trucks, movers, ect. are exempt from certain restrictions. If you want to get your stuff a truck has delivery it. If you have a situation call dispatch or the cops. Let them hammer it out. I just drive the truck.

    Well put.
    We're the driver.
If there is a discrepancy, then it's best to let the locals and the business hammer it out.
I go to a couple places like that in PA.
Sign says no trucks, but the business us just at the end of the road. No other way in or out. Makes no sense whatsoever.
First time to one of these, called the customer. Sign said no trucks, business said it's ok. Sorry, called city cops, had them come out and take a look. City cop says ok, residents can argue with him. Not going to get caught in that mess.

Where i used to deliver some hazmat material, they were on the corner surrounded by three roads, the one behind them was restricted. The company worked out a deal to pay for access to their sand silos and chem tanks which the tankers and sand cans could get to but beyond that, forget it, no trucks.

The building next to them was bought and ripped down, the city told both the owners and the contractors, no construction trucks on the restricted road, the county put up this 10 or 15 foot sign at the end of the road telling drivers that they will get inspected, weighed and ticketed if they go beyond the end of my customer's building.

NO TRUCKS in no uncertain terms.

I would make two deliveries to this place a day, and see the cops in action, they got it down to a fast procedure, and make the truck back out off the road, they would not allow them to turn around. The dock manager and super at my customers kept tabs on the number of trucks, and what type. They told me that almost 30 trucks got stuck being inspected, weigh and got huge tickets in one week. The super told me one day they had Michigan Trains come in ignoring the sign and the cops had teams assigned to different functions and handed out a lot of tickets. They had pulled all the way to the main road in front of the buildings, and the cops told the ones that were not on the road to keep going, some ignored their instructions, came back and got nailed.

YOU GOT THIS big sign sitting there saying NO TRUCKS and YOU still ignored it.

    Really?
