    I'm still here guys decided to stick around try to get my year knocked out. I have told the Company I want a new truck and they said they will see what they can do. By new I mean less piece of junk then the one I'm in.

    And a slight update.... I maybe purchasing a truck and going over to Bruce Oakley. A friend of a friend is selling it and couldn't pass up a good deal. Depending on what my mechanic says tomorrow will dictate if I purchase the truck or not.

    Bought my own truck! I put in my notice here and they offered to sign me on as a owner operator but their rate seems really low for pulling a tank. I think I'm going to leave here to sign on with a flatbed carrier with allot higher rates!

    Keep us posted, and CONGRATS~! :)

    ps: If they value you, do the WalMart price matching thingy with them (or try to?) and see if they will match it. Only saying this, because you'll still stay somewhat in your comfort zone, instead of having to learn a whole new ballgame. JMHO~!

    I actually tried that but to no avail. Their pay is $1.05 plus fsc (.25) which isnt much better than some of these mega carriers. How can they pay so low for ethanol?

    Wow... just wow. I know what my boss makes from what I haul, and we EACH make about that; he's the O/O... i'm just a sub. We do just a few cents under you, apiece.

    Is there NO other tanker gig, in your locale, that you could lease on to or contract with? Are you gonna run your own numbers, then? That's a huge expense in itself.... my boss' books are open to me... he's trying to get me to buy his fleet; or at least one truck; jury's still out on that one.

    Ya know.... had we not had this contract for almost ten years; we'd be splitting what they offer YOU. Rates are SOOOO down right now. Ergo, we do a lot of favors for the company we (almost) dedicated haul for. Unpaid winters included; and a random call on a warm day and/or week, we scramble. I feel ya, man. Keep us posted; answer my other q's in previous post; just curious, in case I ever buy one of his. At my age; thinking not, but who knows.
    Best wishes;
    Tomcat.

    Sadly there isn't Any tanker companies with any decent amount of time home in my area. I have a couple of companies running my app. I'll know by Friday what company I'm leasing onto. They are all pick your freight type gigs so I'll be choosing what my truck moves for.

    Well at least you'll have that option, anyway. Do you have any asphalt/paving gigs in your area, that are like the "secret coin" that I've gotten into????? There's gotta be.. your roads get #### in the winter too, right?
    Go look at some of the asphalt/paving companies, comparable to The Shelly Co. and Kokosing here, in Ohio...... and drive by... show up, say hi. That's how my boss got OUR gig ten years plus ago; I've been with him almost seven. We are their right'hand men. Drop ANYTHING for the big boys (and therefore, big bucks.) Sure, they have other haulers; we only have 4 trucks and one is a backup..... yet, we are their go to guys. That's how we got in here.
    Might not hurt to look around and do some of your own research. We aren't leased on to anyone, he has his own #'s and ONE back up Etnyre tank; rarely used... we pull THEIR equipment; very well maintained, I might add.
    You never know until you try.
    With tank experience, you'd be surprised~!
    Nothing against flats; I / we used to do that in the winters when 6122 wouldn't flow, but we had more near misses than the profit was worth. Shoddy securement, and we didn't know wtf we were doing to improve the way we picked it up. LoL, but not funny.
    Best wishes to ya either way, man. Still be cool to check out where your paving companies get their product from; there's more money there than people realize!
