You were lucky to find a spot there. I finally got a load and made it to the Flying J in St Augustine. Got the last free spot with 11 mins left on my 14.

Yeah I had a smug look on my face when I saw trucks I passed on 95 pull in a after me circling the lot. If I hadn't gotten that scale bypass it would have been me out of luck.

Yeah, I was surprised too. And didn't have to wait for a shower either. Amazing. When I left at 5 it was full. That J in St. Augustine has such crappy phone reception for me. I try not to stay there. Well, back to watching tv........

Connects I-12 to I-10. Goes across Lake Pontchartrain. 23 miles long.

That's the bridge from Metairie up to Covington on 12. I used to deliver to the mall a mile from that bridge and that was my escape route back to Atlanta to miss morning rush.

It has crappy everything else too especially the crappers. Only 1 of the five had a working door lock. Had to keep one foot pressed against the door to preserve my dignity.

No TV for me, can only get 4 cable access type channels. This place is definitely going on the avoid if possible list.

So is it normal for a phone call to not get picked up? I tried contacting Abilene to ask the recruiter questions three times. Once with the contact form and twice with phone calls. Both phone calls, someone picked up. I asked to speak to a recruiter, they both transferred me.

The first time went straight to voicemail.

The second time I heard two rings and then was disconnected.

Getting a little frustrated, because I REALLY like what I've been reading about Abilene so far!!

The problem is the hours I'm currently working, and my job does not allow me to have my cell phone on me so I can't take calls.

Yes. Communication issues are a normal part of business here at abilene for all of us. Stay committed and keep trying. It is definately worth it.

    Kiyoshia and JohnBoy Thank this.

So youre saying day to day is an issue communicating with dispatch? Are you talking about over the phone or Qualcomm or both?

i put an application in at abilene but never heard back. i found a local job that i like but unfortunately its too weather dependent. i cant help to be curious about abilene but i really dont want OTR. the options as a driver with 9 months is just so limiting locally.
