Like others have said, lumbar support while driving or sitting in the passenger seat is one the most important gifts you can give to your back. When I started driving there were no lumbar supports built into the seat.I would just roll up a towel and place it in the curve of the lower back for support. When I slept I would lay on my back and do the same.It really made a difference. One other thing that has helped.I think it's called therma care heat wrap. They come in different sizes but they do have two for the upper and lower back. There adhesive and self activating with heat once there out of the package. They help also but make sure to read the directions as they can get pretty warm.Last thing, your spine needs support. It can only get that support from strong back muscles.A simple daily routine of excercise on those muscles will help more in the long run.
