Flatbed comparisons....

First of all. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE to our Country. My Father was a Marine and a Korean war Vet. I hate asking stupid questions (I have to learn somehow) but, what are you referring to when you say flat bar underneath? I was looking at a fontaine (I think it was Renegade) and it seemed like (NOT that I would know) it was very well made. The RASR edge seemed like the bees knees. If I buy brand new, why in the world would I buy a 48' over a 53'??? Seems crazy not to get the longer trailer.

 

Look at oldskoolers pic in post 6. Mine have flat bars like those bolted underneath the deck on both sides for hooking straps to.

 

Thats just the sliding winch track. Any trailer with sliding winches will have it.

 

No, look at the other picture that shows the passenger side of the trailer. It has a flat aluminum bar bolted to it. Where the bottom of the chains are touching. That's what he's talking about.

 

That's only there because it doesn't have a winch track on that side. Easily added to any trailer, no matter the manufacturer. The only reason you don't see more of them is cause most guys spec sliders on both sides.

Looks like a decent setup but I don't like how they use proprietary lights. If one goes out, you can't just buy a generic on at the truck stop. I'm also not a fan of sliding axles, but that's just me because I don't need that.

 

My Mac has a slider on both sides with the flat bar behind it.

 

How is it any structurally stronger than the winch track itself? Its just a piece of flat stock. No different than the winch track bolted to the crossmembers.
