My first truck. Upgraded bumper to go along with the spring ride suspension. Now look at me.

After a couple productive days off including dr visits came back out tuesday. Given sabra to monroetownship nj. Had a nice lazy drive up riding with the flow of traffic and not trying to get all 67 mph out of the truck. Took a long break then delivered.

Once empty had a couple pickups close by and then back to rva with about an hour to spare on the 14. I hate shippers that refuse slc. Its your job to know what ur shipping, and my job to drive it. O well. Atleast they were shrinkwrapped pallats.

Came in thursday and had to be on bostons north side this morning. Stopped on the njtp for 8 and then continued on.

After 10 years of being in 24.7.365 jobs where holidays were simply days where others got to have fun, totally forgot it was memorial day weekend and all the associated traffic.

This week i learned per breakdown the only service allowed on the njtp, including plazas, is towing and tire service. This is important after a orange conpany truck pulling a silver tank had a disagreement with the deer guard.

Scott wanted breakdown to remove it. Thankfully i was able to bend it back into place after learning about njtp policies. It was around 430 pm and stopped at the end spot and was looking for other options when bam! There werent really any other spots which is why the ne can suck at times.

Can anyone tell me the home time policy? I was told in orientation that you get 1 day for every 6 out. The days rolled over so if you accumulated 6 but only used 4 you would still have 2 left for your next home time. Now I'm told that if you don't use them you lose them. How is this fair. They are earned days off. Been out since basically April 23rd, used 2 days for a graduation. Does this mean all the other days are gone now?

That's my understanding. @chralb had the same issue on his first hometime and wound up loosing unused days. Something about that they have no way of keeping track of the days not used. I don't stay out that long so it's never happened to me. But I will say this, depending how loud you get, you'll most likely get them back.

Hey everyone, looking into companies and Abilene is on my list, couple questions. What trucks do they have? Auto or manual? Do they have cameras? What are the trucks governed at? How is hometime done?

I just wish they wouldn't tell you things in orientation then it's completely different once you're hooked. Sad that people who approve and deny home time are home and comfy every night. I guess I will be vocal and try to get a week off. My time has to be worth something. Thank you for a response! Stay safe.

Volve, kenworth, freightliner, mack, western star. All automatic. Mostly under 3 years old. Front facing and in cab cameras. My volvo is governed at 69 with pedal, 71 cruise. 6 days out earns one day home. Great pay and miles. Nice equipment. Dispatch is hit or miss most days. Its a great company though. Most people know you by name, not just a truck number.

Had a very uneventful trip in from Phoenix. Got empty this morning in Monroe NC. While getting empty my reload came in. Dead head 275 miles down to Conyers Ga and drop and hook going back to Richmond. On my way down to Conyers my hometime load came over the QC. Hook a loaded trailer at the same customer in Richmond and deliver Tuesday 5 miles from the house. After the last 2 hometimes being messed up, I'll be home a day early. Also, you do real good here if you get preplanned once every 2 weeks. I was preplanned twice in 2 hours. Right now my drop and hook is running a little behind. They weren't quite ready when I got here. Right now I'm looking at a log violation in about 45 minutes. Oh well, at least I'll be at a safe haven with facilities.

It's that time of year again. My wife and I are taking our daughter and grandson to Alaska on a cruise in July, the countdown has started. Please everyone, those that are working this weekend, be safe, remember our fallen soldiers and their families and God Bless.
