Ok so I assume the engine brake is always on since there's no button for it. How exactly does this device work and how do I control the engine brake? I tried watching a few youtube videos but they keep going on about cruise control. Is there any way to work the brake without having to use cruise control?
Thanks

There's always a On/Off Switch for your Engine Brake and a Two or Three Stage Switch.
It's either on the Dashboard or it could be on a Stalk on the right side of your Steering Column.
Did your truck come with a Owner's Manual, most of the information you are seeking about your truck, you can find in the Manual. -
There's controls on the steering column. But no on and off that I could see. Owner's manual didn't say much.

I have a older Volvo VNL that has the Engine Brake Switches on the Dash, but I know the newer Volvo's have it on a Stalk on the Steering Column.
Try carefully moving the Stalk towards you like if you were using your high beams on car or truck, that may be the On/Off Switch. -
Newer ones right suie from the steeringwheel
Lower stick is for wipers etc.
The UPPER STICK is for the engine bracke
Watch lower left corner of you driver info display
Stick posi ..... display
Top ..............(off)
1. ........... ...(A) automatic
2. ............. (1)
3. ............ (2)
4. ............ (3)
5. ......... (B) only on i-shift
The (B) is a tip position and fall back to (3) it will force the i-shift to shift down if possibke by rpm to get a higher brakepower. -
Ah ok thanks. that's what I needed.

Downhill limiter....
When you go Downhill
cruze off
Engine brake stick on (A)
Tip the + - on the stick to adjust the speed -
Volvo really needs a short video on basic operation including their intermittent wipers how to adjust speed.
For those unfamiliar it can take a while to figure out. -
awesome precisely what I needed. I hate cruise control.
