If you say my pay might be lower due to my MVR violations, or they might kick me out at orientation, why would they send me to orientation in the first place?
I've noticed that the "pre-hire" literature has some fine-print, specifying that the pre-hire is based on conditions that must be met, etc.
But as far as my MVR is concerned, I included all of that stuff on my initial application online.
Why would they waste both my time, and theirs to turn me away at orientation?
Thanks

There are several reasons.
The recruiters are paid to get you there, and many will tell you anything to do so. I know the real pay is if you get to stay, but they have no control over that. They will send you hoping that you will be kept.
#1... Some companies do not do a detailed check into your background until you show up. Why spend money and hire people to do this when a large portion of people signed up for orientation will not show up for various reasons. You get there, the REAL person in charge checks your MVR, and off you go.
#2... There may be 50 people signed up for orientation, but only 15 show up. If the company needs 20 drivers at this time, then the chances of staying are good if you pass muster with DMV, drug test, ect.
#3... There may be 50 people signed up for orentation, and 45 show up. They still only need 20 drivers, so they selectively go through the recruits, and pick out the ones with the best overall record, including traffic records and employment records. This may leave you out in the cold.Last edited: Oct 27, 2008

Understood, thanks.
My girl and I laid out our projected budget, and it looks like we can make it beyond the 21st of November, which is the magic date when my most current violation is one year old. This was the day Crete told me it would be best to apply if I wanted to, because if I applied before, they would automatically turn me down.
So, we're going to hold out until then, and hopefully by some miracle they pick me up, as Crete was one of my first choices. Somehow I doubt it will happen, but I'd like to try.
Thanks everyone for all the information!
