Trucking software question

Although costly ... there is PCMiler. It is one of the best and is used by quite a few companies as their method of calculating milage for settlement.

I have just previewed ProMiles. It is not a bad program but seems more suited for the independent O/O.

Rand McNally also has a streets program similar to Microsoft.

WIFI is offered at MOST major truck stops.

Sprint offers a wireless service that is available in almost any area they provide phone service in. No need for a truck stop with Sprint. I believe several major cellular providers also have wireless service available.

 

I have used serveral but non are really user friendly and do you really have the time? Its been my experience that if you want to make any money you don't have time for paperwork. email me at

I don't know which programs you have tried but most are nothing more than entering the information, which is about 20-30 minutes and then the program generates the paperwork. The programs are quite easy to use.

Sounds to me like a falsehood written to generate personal business. I have nothing against self employment but not through false information.

I would be interested to know of your credentials and where they can be verified ?

We use prophesy for road taxes. It is not user friendly. We use jj keller for log books. Its okay but you have to buy the scanable log books

 

We use PC Miler version 18 HAZ-MAT with Street level routing. Most computers that can run Windows 98 and up will run it. We also use it for fuel taxes,logs, etc. We've tried several different types of trucking software as well as Quick books. I personally prefer Excel and Access as I can build what I want the way I want. Most people can't. The folks that write the code for these programs for the most part don't have a clue as to what's involved in running a company nor the amount of paperwork involved. Hence they can't write the program that covers everything. Not to mention the cost on some of this is exorbitant an out of the reach of most O/O's or small companies. On top of that most of the programs are not compatible with others. Quick books seems to have the most interoperability with most of the programs that I have seen Drivers Daily Log is one that I do like to a certain degree and it's pretty user friendly for those non geek people out there and the price is well with in reach of almost anyone. Bottom line there just isn't anything that fits everyone.

 

JJ keller does most the trucking industry stuff but it's so overinflated in price that only large companies can afford it. FOr maps and routing I have used the Rand Mcnally program for commercial traffic and it's quite good. It gives you contruction info and detours if applical. It give you a listing of truck stops and there exit numbers. It can also break the trip down into 11 hours jumps.

 

I use Excel write the formula and it does everything including the billing and payroll. Check out Drivers Daily log it does a LOT of stuff so you don't have to write the formula. It does loads, exports to QuickBooks too.
