wow... the gun control freaks will have a hay day with this one... Very sad the boy died.. I don't understand why they was letting a 8 year old shoot a uzi? just the ideal seems dangerous to me..

Good grief, how STUPID can people be, and let an 8 year old shoot an uzi sub-machine gun? It takes alot more strength than an 8 year old has to shoot one. I was 12 when I shot a gun the first time. It was a 12 gauge with oo buck shot and it about knocked me on my butt. I doubt if the instructor is certified any longer, or even an instructor for that matter.
Wen782 Thanks this. -
Part of being an 'instructor' of any type is having the judgement to determine when safety becomes an issue.
This clown obviously did not have the judgement needed to come to the
conclusion that maybe an 8 year old should not be shooting an Uzi.
Gee, what could go wrong? -
That is just dumb to let an 8 year-old fire an uzi! At my size, even a shotgun is hard for me, and there are a lot of 8 year-olds that are almost as big as me!

I take it you have had the black and blue shoulder as well???
-
Yea, that was just plain dumb.

This is tragic. I feel for the boy's family. What a horrible thing to have happen.
The thing is, an Uzi is a fairly controllable SMG for those that know what they're doing. Comparing the Uzi to a 12 Ga loaded with 00 Buck is like comparing a Peterbilt to a bicycle. Worlds apart. The 12 Ga thumps you while the Uzi pushes you backwards, all the while trying to rise against the shooter holding it down.
That being said, there needs to be a modicum of common sense when doing this sort of thing. Not saying an 8 year old isn't capable of handling an Uzi, but my guess is the instructor handed him the gun and said, "Go" instead of holding it with the kid the first time so the kid could get an idea of what was going to happen. Not having been there, I have no way of knowing. Those things love to rise up on the shooter, that's for sure.
Oh, and you can bet your boots the left will run with this like crazy.Last edited: Oct 27, 2008

Yep I have! The bruised backside too, from landing on it! I haven't hunted since I was in high school.
