I can see the beginning of the end for brokers driving truckers to bankruptcy. We don’t need a door to door sales guy slash middle man making a living between the real work.
Trucking is the most heavily regulated industry, you guys no that. We can’t drive 30 minutes in some places without hitting a port of entry full of public employee safety cop technicians. These safety techs have one goal in mind and that is to keep the public safe. Brokers will play the unsafe card, its their lively hood at stake.
Uber Freight?! What is this madness?!?!

Those who own the means of production will go bankrupt when they can't find customers, because everyone but them is poor and destitute. An economy can not function if there is a small percentage of people with a large percentage of the money, and everyone else is broke. Look at Venezuela for a current example.trucking.shine and daf105paccar Thank this. -
If you believe that I've got a bridge I'll sell you. How is it you can blame brokers for low rates but somehow you yourself get a free pass and accept no blame for it at all? When you realize that spot freight is what it is, regardless if there is a middleman or not, shippers and receivers are always going to look at moving that excess freight for the lowest cost possible. When that light bulb goes off then maybe you can quit blaming brokers for low rates. No-one ever forced you to accept a low rate. If you find yourself in a bind that isn't the broker's fault. I know a lot of you guys don't want to hear that but it's the truth.

You are correct, brokers are what they are and that is human leeches. My hope is Uber has found a way to relieve us all of this plague that some have been forced to live with. I will not accept low rates, that means I will be going out of business sooner rather than later unless I polish up my salesmen skills and find my own customers. Or unless Uber puts an end to truck leeches.Brian Junior Thanks this.

You realize Uber is a middleman?
jayeigh, Oscar the KW and daf105paccar Thank this. -
Uber is just one off the many things that will change our world.
Whether they succeed or fail.
I pity anyone who does not realise that what we had in the past is gone and will never return,no matter what certain people have you believe.
Will it make the world a better or worse place.................i really do not know. -
Broker gets a load for $1000, gives trucker $800, keeps $200. Truckers are pissed.
Shipper eliminitates the broker, thinking he can save money with Uber. Posts a load for $800. Trucker gets $750 and is pissed again.
Broker posts the load on Uber for $750, trucker gets $700.
I think Uber is just another loadboard
And assuming Uber will eliminate the brokers, what will stop Uber in the future from changing the 5% commission fee to 20% commission fee?Last edited: May 30, 2017

15 years ago there was a company called NTE(national transportation exchange) Mostly LTL's for 3M, Burlington and a few others. Had to be an approved carrier for those companies. Every bit of info about the load was posted. Rate was set. NTE got 5%. Uber freight is just a re-incarnation for smart phones.
Brian Junior Thanks this. -
What are you going to do when you have a problem with the load like detention? Do they have a button for that?
-
I can’t get detention out of brokers, would it make any difference anyway? It is 100 dollars per hour to operate 100,000 dollars’ worth of equipment and 1 million dollars of insurance. When have you ever seen that kind of reimbursement? You will eat detention and make it up with price per mile. The difference in an Uber load vs a broker board is the price tag is front and center. No bargaining with slimy high school kids, simply take it or leave it.Cummimgs Trucking LLC Thanks this.
