I found this in my inbox today. Been a while since I've seen $5/mile offered on a legal step deck load. I didn't post the broker because I didn't want to advertise for them. It's 350 miles. I suppose it's $2500 CDN which is approx $1750 US

"we’re paying $2500 to anyone who can load a step deck or double drop tonight by 10:30pm in Lexington , KY to go to Windsor, ON for a delivery tomorrow
    legal load / 108” high / no tarps / 10,000lbs
Please call me with any option"

Yep, I bet. Still a little light for a border crossing ld in my opinion. But you know opinions are like the back end of a donkey

I think it's light too. Detroit is not a very good market for DD's right now.

We finally found a kinda short hopper to do tomorrow. Going to Albany, Oh with a hoe. Really didn't want to go to Baltimore again so I turned one down earlier. I said let me think about for and hour. 30 minutes later it was gone... go figure

I've had those days. Just about the time you talk yourself into doing it, it gets gone.

They'll call back with that Baltimore on Thursday, wanting to load Friday. Baltimore on Friday is awesome.

I was in Memphis TN 10 days ago, in the evening checked loads for next day for dry van, showed 150 within 80 miles radius, reefers was 70 and flatbeds was 600! I am sure flats are swimming in cash right now staying on i40 from SC to AR

Next time you walk into a truckstop, look of the truck drivers. Out of 10 drivers how many do you think are able to do open deck? How many want to? How many can understand that load securement and load protection may be the big focus over the driving part. How many drivers are going to get a hard *# tarping a load in sleet? Probably not many. Many drivers are getting older and weaker. A lot of the young generation are bunch of snowflakes. I see flatbed coming up strong!
