Getting differing advice

Unless you're working for peanuts or otherwise being "abused", what's the problem with where you're currently working? Either you like the job or you don't. If you're indifferent, stick with it. Changing jobs is a big hassle if there's no sure and real benefit.

 

There's always going be someone doing a similar job for more money, somewhere. It's not all about the money. Besides some places that pay more mileage or more hourly rate, end up with drivers making less gross or getting fewer benefits, or less enjoyment of their job.

Do what you feel is right. You'll know when it's time to move. If you're conflicted, don't do anything until is makes better sense, one way or the other.

 

Lets look,at a few things.

All local work, or yard shag.
Pay: 17.50 per hour, plus benefits. ( a bit low, you had no experience so it is reasonable to start, as you gain some experience, it should increase)
Work is 40 to 50 hours per week.
Home every night and weekends off.

So the question is this; If the people who say your getting riped off had not said that, are you fine with the job? is it keeping you interested and learning. Is it paying enough to cover your bills and have some cash for fun or savings.

If the answers to these are yes, then its a good gig.
the people telling you its a rip off are not happy you got hooked up into a solid deal.

Running aggregate in DFW based on tonnage right now, and my "calculated hourly rate" is between 13-15/hr.
So yea, I work 60hrs a week but only take gross around 850$ on average.

If you are happy where you are at and making a decent wage, stay put. I'm actively looking for a new employer, but to put things in reference box truck jobs around here normally only start at 13/hr.(DFW)
