Depends on how open your strap hooks are. On my trailers that have dual tracks my strap hooks can't hook onto the track. On those trailers I have to hook the rail. If I open the hooks any wider they don't fit between the rail and deck.
Flatbed comparisons....

Now that makes sense. What kind of trailer do you have? That must be one beefy track rail.Razororange Thanks this.
-
Yea all my trailers with dual tracks are 50T trailers.
1 3axle Transcraft step
1 3axle Reitnouer Big Bubba flat
1 3axle Fontaine Phantom Flat
I would much rather hook under the sides if I could. Wouldn't be that hard really for me to get some 1/4" x 3" flat stock and bolt it up.
I usually just hook to the bottom of the rail so the only part outside of the rail is the top of the hook. The actual webbing is still protected.
The 4 standard steps and 2 flats I run do have the flat stock on them from the factory.DDlighttruck Thanks this. -
Don't want to run off track but, can I have my trailers wheels aligned? My trailer is running a few inches to the right. It particularly sucks when going thru tight toll booths and running wide loads.
-
Yes you can have them aligned
Hegemeister and MJ1657 Thank this. -
Each trailer axle has an adjusting sleeve on it, like a tie rod end, so you can adjust if need be just for that reason.
Now stop running over those curbs.
spyder7723 and Hegemeister Thank this. -
I wouldn't think any stronger, just a different design. The track on the Great Dane has the flat peice incorporated into it. My bad it's not a separate peice. (Had to look twice at it) On the Mac which is the trailer I normally pull the track is completely separate from the track with about a half inch of space between them. The flat bar sits behind the track. Both sides are like this and if the flat bar wasn't there the track would be too wide for the strap hooks. After looking at both of them (I ain't no engineer) the Great Dane design would probably be stronger.spyder7723 Thanks this.
