Do they serve a purpose or is that just a style in China?

 

It's just style. They wear them in early spring and fall when the weather isn't too hot or cool.

Not sure exactly where they are made now, they used to be made in Montana.

 

Last article I read 99% of Ariats stuff is made in China at the moment. That being said, they are the best of the Chinese stuff.

 

I just bought a pair of pull over Irish setters. Not American, but I'm having problems finding American made pull overs that I like. I bought them at Woods Boots, exit 217 in Colorado city, Texas.
They workboot and regular boots. There is a huge parking lot next door.

Got my lace ups at B.C. boots in SLC. I buy American made lace ups from HyTest and absolutely love them, but no truck parking.

 

The rest of us prefer you confine the foot odor to your own shoes, not our noses.

As for daily wear, it's hard to beat custom redwing boots. You'll pay a bit more, but when you go into the store they will actually custom design the inserts to fit your foot exactly. Top it off with a lifetime sole warranty, and you end up with a boot that will last you a decade for 200-250$.

 

I paid $120 for a nice pair of wolverine eleven inch steel toe cowboy boots at Sports Authority. Then I replaced them with waterproof, slip resistant steel toe Ariats for about $160. I walk in mud and I climb in and out of trailers which can be slick when wet stepping on the DOT bumper. Those are some things to consider. Otherwise, Cavenders and Boots and More are local here near Jackson. My personal favorite is a nice pair of Ostrich for dressing in nicer clothes.

 

Yeah we got cowboys, plenty of indians too.
