I may potentially have 2 stop load next week, but I'm unsure if I should risk it. Stop 1 is mesquite Nevada. Stop 2 is middle of AZ.
My query is, does Cali have the air police checkpoint between Las Vegas and needles? Can I jump on I40 without being harassed for being a smog monster?

@doubleyellow may have the exact answer, but I think you're allowed x amount of hours/miles in California for a non conforming truck.

You will be fine. Your truck body is covered now for short trips.

I'd be more concerned about finding a load in the SW than anything.

Even though I just got the title and I'm bringing home an acceptable income, a devil on my shoulder keeps whispering to trade this one in for an upgrade...(and another payment) trying to ignore

I haven't transferred my title to my name yet...

Motor carriers who qualify may claim exemption from sales or use tax by providing the seller or lessor with the prescribed Form 3372, Michigan Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Exemption. The buyer or lessee would check the box "Rolling Stock purchased by an Interstate Motor Carrier".

NOTE: Your first tractor/trailer lease/purchase IS NOT EXEMPT from Michigan sales or use tax.

They cover all trailer expenses because it's their trailer. They pay fuel tax on my behalf.
