I have seen some literature showing 2018 hood and windshield sloped more than 2017. Does anyone know if a 2018 one piece windshield could be fitted to a 2017. I am just getting into researching a new truck, and want to get a one piece windshield if possible but prefer to get a glider which is only available with 2017 Cascadia, at least at this time. I haven't gotten so far as to ask a Freightliner dealer yet, just starting this process and hoping for some help here first.
I did just find out that Fitzgerald is building the Pete 579 as a glider. But I prefer the condo style sleeper that the Cascadia offers.
Also, have the emissions systems improved enough to be worth buying or is the glider with pre emission engine still the smartest way to go for an owner/ operator. I am strictly east of the Mississippi. Thanks
One piece windshield on 2018 Cascadia

The 2018 Crapcadia Cab is the same as the 2017.
It's funny how the Freightliner advertisement makes it sound like they introduced a built from the ground up all new truck.
It's the same crap as before with a redesigned hood, headlights and front bumper.
I'm sure the One Piece Windshield on a 2018 will fit on a 2017 and older.
The only difference between a One and Two piece Windshield is black vertical molding in the center to have a place to bond the two separate pieces of glass.
I wouldn't buy a Post-Emission Truck, if you have no need to go to Commie-fornia, then buy the Glider.Last edited: May 29, 2017

Thanks, I sort of thought from the pictures that it looked the same, but the literature I saw somewhere showed the windshield angled back a few more degrees and figured it might change the dimensions.
Please tell me why the Cascadia is so bad. And would you consider one if you could glider it out with a 12.7 S60 like Harrison offers. I prefer the wider cab and the Cascadia is as wide as you can get currently that offers a glider. I have not yet driven one, am planning to do that in next month or so. But from the literature only it offers most what I like as far as the way it is setup. I was hoping by now that the quality of build issues would be better. Have not been in the new truck market for many years so this is all new territory for me. Thanks -
the interior is completely redesigned. Externally, It is the same from the doors back. There are changes under the hood too.
If you have the full aero package, the rubber strips are a tad lower and it'll have a redesigned FlowBelow system. -
Thank you. I have never driven a Cascadia, but there are not many options for a wider cab anymore. I think it would be fairly quiet with all the insulation packages ticked off the option list. Also need decent fuel mileage to help with enormous payments of new.

8.4 MPG brand new.... not yet broken in

I,m getting about 6.5 on average so that would help. Thanks

You need to specify exactly which 2018 truck you are talking about as there are two 2018 Cascadias. Moreover, there is a current gen Cascadia and a Next Generation Cascadia (NGC). Of the two, there are two DIFFERENT types of windshield strategies for the cab on these two separate trucks. The NGC uses a single piece windshield that has different molding and sealant locations than the current/old Cascadia.
I'm not sure as to why you would want to change from a two piece to a one piece or visa verca as there is a difference in various other things including the wipers themselves even.
What literature are you talking about? Point to me where you see the difference in angles between an old Cascadia and NGC windshield is. -
Be carefull with the gliders.
Some are good.....but some are bad.
Depends on how the engine was rebuild.
There are a few threads about this on TTR.
