Wow, I didn't know it was Ray that made the TNT/ Silver Eagle amps, I knew they were made in Mississippi but didn't know who made them. I have a silver eagle 350 that I have been working skip all over the US with an Imax 10 feet off the ground, nice little amp.

shogun and RockinChair Thank this.

I got this silver eagle 350 and a galaxy 66 for a cobra 29 and $75. I planned on using it for a driver but it does so good on dx that I've kept it in the house. Everyone says this amp and my ranger with a top gun modulator and speech compressor sound awesome, crystal clear and loud so I leave it alone.

I will admit that what he was accused of doing was some sick stuff and I don't condone it. I am assuming he has been judged for his crimes and he wasn't sentenced to do any real time in jail. -
mike5511 and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

Stopped by Kilgore’s CB Shop in Fort Worth yesterday:
5136 Mansfield Highway
Fort Worth, Texas 76119
817-478-2111
Have heard several of his radios on company trucks. One is a friend. He got it all — and had it all done here —as I recall. We talked a good distance past each other while line of sight on Interstate at 70-mph. Both with tanker and co-phase (mine less than ideal).
Mike makes a solid low-key impression. Gandalf the Grey. 8000-part numbers in stock. Old stuff all around. Dust (yeah, it’s great!).
Said he’d done the truckstop thing many years. I asked if it was the challenge now of “the not ordinary”, and he said that was part. The storied brands of the past started coming up.
Think I’ll start looking thru photos for a pic showing my Dads 1970s Johnson Messenger in his Silver Streak. The campground radio. Helluva talker. And try to get the same one. Now that I know where to take it for refurbishment.

Call ahead
In Forest Hills. SE of downtown Fort Worth just off IH20 at IH820. On Business US-287 (Mansfield Highway)
Exit, go towards downtown and look for BBQ sign on left, first block or so. Very next building.
No obvious big truck parking. Call and ask.
Get your brand-new radio elsewhere is my guess. This place isn’t full of new stuff. Describing what you want to do would be best. Ask and coordinate ahead of time is how I’d approach it.
Is this a one stop shop? Just show up and start? I’d call ahead. And bring what he doesn’t want to fool with. Bobtail over on the day off is how my friend did it. How much he did and how much the shop did (don’t remember).
Or maybe he has something he can fix up for you. That would also be my approach. My friend got a fine sounding repaired Connex 4600.
How much “fun” is CB to you? Barely (just a tool), or maybe at the far end (competition)?
I get the impression this man can cover the range. He’s already seen it and done it. Nothing to prove.
Another greybeard customer said Mike had kept him on the air for forty-something years.
(This isn’t to start yet another argument about techs. It’s to make the point that if you know what you want and why, he can probably get you going based on what I’ve heard over the air).
Is it enough to know that other “CB techs” bring him work? (Yet another customer; I’d read that already)
Another friend of mine is a legend on power equipment in another part of the state. I’ve been in to visit and seen the other service companies (factory-authorized & trained) bring him work. I’ve seen that for several decades. Brand reps also stop in for info. Insight. Factories invite him to their test programs in his area. Etc.
The point here is trust.
