OP, you sound like a splendid person - and probably a decent, courteous driver.

I'd eat the grub offered so long as you appeared to be a kempt person. I've got solid intuition and an instinct for shady people - if you speak and present like you post, I doubt I'd be inclined towards distrust. That said: you may also be a manipulative sociopath, keen with words and games..... but I doubt it; I don't catch that vibe.

You can't bull-#### a bull-####ter.... but you can use it to start an excellent rose garden!

I don't know if Loves will welcome you.... You might be cutting into their proprietary restaurants business, and God forbid McDonalds or Chesters loses a $5 sale... Capitalistic corporate greed - you know the shtick: If money isn't changing accounts then it's not business. If it's not business it's unprofessional. If its unprofessional it's probably illegal.

I'm of the inclination to say 'F Loves'. They're making a living off of leeching guys who sacrifice their lives - AND ESPECIALLY THEIR FAMILIES - to keep consumer goods on the shelves for unappreciative ###-hats who think that the stuff magically appeared in the store. Idealistic naiveté.

Surely, they offer drivers a modicum of normalcy with their accoutrements - showers..... and uh..... nothing else. No lounge. No laundry. Having had ceased OTR for almost 4 months now I see: Loves is the worst for driver accommodations. Their point system is the bait-and-switch - beef it up in that realm, because the rest of their business model sucks total ###.

I hope you find a way to do something akin to what you wish to do. A driver would be sincerely appreciative of the gesture. Loves on the other hand.... :/

Oh, absolutely no need to apologize, I think most people would come to the same conclusion! They think of "rescue" and the fur-babies automatically come to mind, not the scale-babies!

I am glad you disagree with the New York Times quote as most on the forum probably also do. I have no idea why they would say that, but it made me sad.

Thank you! When I do this I said in an earlier post that I would leave the 6" stilettos, mini skirt, tube top and bunny fur jacket at home and I promise to cover all my track marks!

However, once I have you manipulated you and get you in the trunk of my car you can expect a nice long stay in the well I have pre-dug in my basement. "It puts the lotion in the basket or it gets the hose".

Seriously though, my two must-achieve goals every day are to 1) help someone in need or do something kind for someone and B) make at least one person I have never met before laugh.

It's simple but the rewards are amazing.

I spent a lonely Christmas at a Petro one year far from home. A local church stopped by and left a goodie bag on everyone's door step. It meant a lot.

I read that article to and was saddened by it but it certainly doesent represent the majority of the industry but kudos to you and the times for looking into it and yes it is a lonely job but after 32 years of driving I've come to accept it as part of the job .
I'm blessed with having one of the industry's better jobs ..good pay ..benefits and home weekends but I've put in my time with lousy pay and out for 6 weeks at a time .
    Thank you Michelle !

I think you need a CB radio. A Loves with an Arbys is kinda like a last resort place to stop, I can see why you would want to bring some real food, but there might be a lil bit of radio chatter once in a while.

It's always nice to hear a female voice on the radio. Might find one cheap at a pawn shop or flea market and plenty if info on the web to set one up if you're the DIY type.
