If you're green, you probably don't know much about driving. So, being as nobody in orientation will tell you, no one at a driving school will tell you, and nobody in a recruiting office or safety department will tell you, I offer up the following advice:
1. Watch your BMI. Try to keep it under about 28, maybe 29. Don't let it get over 30.
2. Get one of those blood sugar monitors with strips from a drug store and check your blood sugar about once a month or so.
Companies rail on and on about safety, safety, safety. But none of them seem to give a rat's ### about drivers' weight, BMI, or blood glucose. If you get too heavy, your blood pressure will go up too much and you'll flunk your next physical. Eat garbage food at the truck stops or drink sodas (even diet) all the time and you'll possibly have type 2 diabetes, which will also flunk you. Don't let truck driving screw up your health. Eat and drink right. And know what can happen if you let yourself go.

Count your calories with Myfitnesspal app.
Walk around at shippers/receivers. Park in business parks at night and do a couple laps. Sitting all day is not good for you. Move and watch what you eat. -
I think companies should offer bonuses for drivers who keep their weight down. That would help make drivers aware of what could go wrong quick with their bodies and help drivers avoid #### like type 2 diabetes.

Day or night, rain or shine, get in the habit of parking the furthest away from the truck stop, or your terminal, etc., that you can. The walking will do you good.
If your company will allow you to, toss a bike on your catwalk and go for a ride when you can. Great way to see different cities you're laid over in. I kept a fold up 10 speed with me & rode the hell out of it.bzinger Thanks this. -
