There is a new know issue with 1000's of customers getting knocked back below the minimum 3g after reaching the 22/10gig threshold.
Verizon is working on it and sending out the fix in batches. No real eta on when the fix will be completed.

I talked to a Verizon retailer in a TA a while back about this and asked him about data caps. He told me there wasn't any. I almost signed up right then and there but something just didn't sound right.
So I went into a Verizon shop near the house and the guy in there told me about the 10 gig limit on the Jetpak but said there was no limit on phones. After reading this thread I see that was and lie, too.
The only phone I would even consider getting from Verizon would be the S8+, but Samsung is still screwing around with locked bootloaders and Knox so it is hard to get rid of all the annoying crap they install as system apps from the factory.
Can you use the unlimited offer if you bring your own device? It would have to be a phone I can root and use to tether since the Jetpak offer is useless. -
The only bring your own device you can use is the carrier device. They won't activate phones from other carriers because the numbers won't be in their systems to activate. And, they use different radio chips I"m guessing.
Unless things have changed in the last few years. -
I brought over my iPhone 6s Plus when I transferred to Verizon from T-Mobile

I find it disgusting how much verizon thinks it is worth. I have a tablet and a smartphone. 2 devices, 180 bucks. Im about done with Verizon. They have good coverage, but thats about it. I only went with them to begin with because they have a plan that works in Canada. They arent the only option for that anymore. I could have an unlimited data plan with cricket, includes Canada, for less than half of verizons prices. And have a Straight Talk phone for a backup in areas Cricket doesnt have great coverage. I used to use Straight Talk. I liked it too. Worked great in most of the areas i run. And every time i increased my data plan, it seemed i just used data faster, while not being on the devices very much more. Probably reach their speed cap far faster than i use that much data on my current plan.
tucker Thanks this. -
I don't know if jailbreaking will fix it but most of the newer phones mine included want even support tethering apps anymore I paid for one can't remember which and its a no go
-
I tried to sign up for the unlimited today, their website said I would lose my 18 percent Crete discount that I get on this 16 gig plan.
So I kept what I have -
Maybe change your plan.
I'm paying $98 month for unlimited everything with insurance and extra cloud storage. I could add another line for $45.
It costs more to have certain GB plans with multiple lines,.. like 20 - 30GB+. Its cheaper to go on the unlimited plan.
I use Verizon because of their service coverage area. No one has the network coverage they do. Is it expensive,.. yes. Rip off,.. sure. But no one else comes close to the network that Verizon has. This is what I pay Verizon for. Not saying I like it. But,.. it is what it is
Prices will come down soon enough.

What do you guys use tethering for? Just use the wifi hotspot built into the phone.
I've been getting my laptop and other devices net access like this for the last 4 - 5 yrs now. Just like being at home on a wireless router.
Hurstdriverdriver Thanks this.
