Sounds fair and I can live with that. I was just raised to believe if you damage something or its gets damaged on your watch, own up to it and pay for it.

So if your driving your company truck down the road and a brick falls off an overpass and takes out your windshield, you stop at the glass place and personally pay for the new windshield?

I agree with you to a point. If its the drivers fault he should fess up and pay but in this case it doesn't sound like it was this drivers fault but the other driver didn't stop so 50/50 is very fair besides paying half for a semi tire, can't be that much.

I try to be. I had a truck hit my trailer and tear a chunk out of it. The other companies insurance paid for it. I told mine I would, but they said no that is what insurance was for.

I see that to a point, but we both know that 2-3 car length in a rig is unacceptable.
