Seriously?
The "Blitz" is announced, you have 6 months to prepare your truck and paperwork to pass an inspection you should pass any day of the week.
I feel the announced "blitz" is more about propaganda than anything else. Show of enforcement to the voters.
See your tax money at work!
Haven't been pulled in yet during a blitz.
I have never felt harassed by any officer during an inspection. Yes I've had violations and warnings. Who hasn't, driving many years is not possible to prevent light bulbs from burning out. Or mechanical problems to arise from you last pre-trip. Machines break and its impossible to predict when.
I remember years past, If you had a minor problem and you could fix it in the parking lot. DOT said be on your way with a verbal warning. Not so much now days, with the CSA.
Good luck to all.Airborne, Just passing by, Diesel Dave and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've been given some great breaks by some DOT over the years, I've also been written up for some bogus stuff by some DOT over the years. No one is asking for a break during an inspection, just an honest inspection. What I learned a long time ago was, you never know if your going to be dealing with an ### or an outstanding officer.
If all inspections were honest, I would have no problem. For this reason I began taking vacations during blitz week many years ago.Airborne, bigguns and HopeOverMope Thank this. -
He s just angry because his trucks will be sitting for 3 days. I have a possibility of crossing 9 scales on a round trip and I pickup a load tomorrow. The only reason to go home after that is because I will have to take a 34 and I am changing out the rims and steering box at that time. If not for that I would still be running.Airborne, noluck, bigguns and 1 other person Thank this.

Now there is a old trick. That one is a bottom of my bag. I have not used that one in years. Setting up slower than flow of trucks lining up at a major scale to see a bunch of less kept equiptment fill em up before I hit the ramp.Airborne Thanks this.

I did not give up. My fight was with dispatchers. I got fired for talking back to them what the hours are and what is and is not going to happen. I got fired again and again.
Then I discovered teaming. That pretty much made us able to be covering the entire USA twice in 6 days if need be and done for months. What did we do? Chase after single drivers who are late on delivery loads to customers threatening to fire FFE Company for being late. So we race to get those loads off them, and deliver at the midnight hour hoping that the customer will be overjoyed at seeing the freight. Usually something really delicate like Flowers from Mexico. (That one was memorable. As soon as Illinoise State Police heard that sentance, they swept us all and trailer breached seal and sent the K9 in there to fill his pretty nose full of nectar. (Looking for drugs...)
Poor doggie.Airborne Thanks this. -
UPDATE;
How is the first day of the 72 hour blitz treating everyone ? I have drove by thru 2 of them today with absolutely no problem. (Knock on wood). One particular area, they where focusing on 10 wheeler dump, strong arm dump trucks. Also seen the CARB crew out here.wore out Thanks this. -
I've been off today! As I said I would be. I am working 24 hours at my job without harassment! You know riding shot gun on a BIG RED fire truck that goes really fast and makes a lot of noise..we've ran 6 calls since our shift started at 7 this morning. Will have 24 hours off tomorrow and plan to sit out on the creek bank somewhere and drink beer and fish. then I'm back here at the fire station again on Thursday for another 24 then I get 3 days off and I'll be back trucking! So far the blitz is looking fantastic from my point of view!

I'm guessing you also have a problem with the health department inspecting the fine eating establishments that are cooking your Big Mac? You probably also have issues with the building inspectors making sure that the construction of the home you're living in is up to code so it doesn't collapse on you and your family while you're sleeping. I could go on but I'll just leave it at that.Just passing by, wore out, JReding and 1 other person Thank this.
