Hey all, out of the Joliet, IL area and looking for a good flatbed starter. I know the big ones, if someone else has any other ideas along with the usual info. Please and thanks. Or if the big ones are still worth going to. TMC already turned me down.

Any idea of why they turned you down? Not enough experience? Bad driving record?

Thanks for the solid, Chinatown. Been a flatbed hotshot o/o since '04. DUI arrest mid '11 but ended as non-conviction. Back to o/o beginning of '13. Got my A last August and looking for experience. With an LTL now who has me in a B till this time next year but finding city P&D might not be my cup of coffee. Got a young family but the open road and what I know keeps calling me. At least for a year. Im sure some of these guys understand.

Britton Transport is good; trucks have APU and you can take the family along free; no fee to pay.
@MrEd is the flatbed trainer at Britton Transport.

With the close proximity to Burns Harbor (steel hauler central), I am almost certain that you should be able to find a local gig. If you want local. Or find a gig that runs back and forth between Texas and Illinois. Even the megas in that area would need a local driver.
